adding on bc ive been watching bunny videos

Lohen being a rabbit/hare is pretty interesting since rabbits are technically exotic pets with tough needs

ppl usually underestimate how difficult it can be being a rabbit owner since media depicts them as these docile, laidback little cute fluff balls

but they're actually high maintenance since you cant be too rough (theyre prey animals) but also need their own space to run around, a constant and available supply of hay as well as a variety of fresh veggies, can be pretty messy, and need specialized medical care that a standard vet cannot provide

hares in a nutshell are undomesticated, large rabbits. rabbits still built primarily for survival

Lohen similarly is a pretty high maintenance person for everyone else: have to regularly be rough since he demands to be harmed, needs his own space and time alone and unsupervised to run around and get his battle zoomies out, a constant and available supply of enemies as well as a variety of particularly strong opponents, is pretty messy, and will often need more healing than the average knight since he likes to stop just shy of his limit

he is also a human which means hes bigger, smarter, and needs more autonomy than a rabbit, a pet.

i imagine similarly you CAN make it work hanging around him, but just like a rabbit it is HARD work you have to decide youre both prepared for and committed to. cant just decide to pick em up bc theyre cute and its Easter or smth then dump em when you realize its not all sunshine and rainbows

its not fair to anyone involved, especially the rabbits. the rabbits who struggle to find a home because they need more than the average dog or cat

would lohen care about being called a bunny and want the distinction of being a hare or would he be like "yeah sure bunny it is"

bc i have another char i rlly like who turns into a tiger but gets hissy when ppl call him a cat and i wasnt sure if lohen would be irked from being associated with the small cute mostly harmless and weak bunny than the mad hare he is

ive seen fanfic of him both embracing being called bunny and getting fussy over the nickname and i honestly like both and think both are cute and im leaning towards he only accepts being called bunny by ppl he trusts to not say it in any way implying smth about his strength and abilities

but i wanna hear ppls opinions bc i like going through the comments and reblogs and nodding at all of the cool interpretations everyone has of the same character we all love and enjoy it is very fun for me to interact with fellow lohenlings

guess who just learned about an arabic horned hare called an almiraj known to be timid until threatened when it becomes fierce enough to impale creatures 5x its size with its horn from the comment section of a yt cooking video and thought of a widdle lohen with his spear

i just remember this old ass manga i used to read as a kid so obvs im making an au out of it and shoving lohen in there

let me explain

Vampire Game is basically a Vampire King is slain by a human hero but in his last moments cursed them so one day they'll both reincarnate and when they do he will get his revenge by finally killing him

then he reincarnates as a baby fantasy lion thing and is promptly adopted by the hero's great granddaughter who upon learning his identity decides to help him find the hero's reincarnation among one of his descendants to settle the grudge

so obvs Lohen as the reincarnated vampire king bc imagine him as a little fantasy monster bunny thats physically an actual baby but mentally a sassy ass old dead guy who has to tolerate the humiliation of being carried around as the pet of his archnemesis

but

i was thinking of Illuga as the princess, who heard the story of his great grandfather but found himself shocked upon discovering his rescue after tasting his blood and figuring out it isnt him plans to go through all of his relatives until he finds said great grandfathers reincarnation to kill him

and he decides he will reluctantly help

Ishtar (the princess) was very enthusiastic about it but Illuga would prob do it out of perceived necessity, to at least minimize the casualties since he prob cant just kill him and be done with it considering the curse would just restart the cycle. over, and over, and over, so many innocents caught in the crossfire

wouldnt it save lives if he just helped the curse end the 1st time and have all of this end this generation?

so he agrees to help under the condition that Lohen doesnt immediately kill his relatives, that he only gets to taste their blood so if they're not him their lives are spared

they gotta be real sneaky about it tho. bc theres also Illuga's childhood friend and bodyguard Flins to keep this a secret from

which is why this is faelight + lohen

his ass has to wingman these two while plotting revenge, listening to Illuga yap about Flins after getting side tracked from planning how to get his pet bunny near his cousin then apologize for how bitey he is. and then he gets left in a room with Flins who sighs and rambles to an animal who definitely cant understand what he means when he talks about his young master

and Lohen having to navigate Flins while disguised as Illuga. bc yes thats a plotpoint in the manga. the vampire king who has tasted the princess's blood has the power to shapeshift into her form albeit a male version

so its vampire king Lohen and prince Illuga bc of the meme of them looking similar so whenever Illuga is sneaking around Lohen has to take his place and attempt to fool ppl (Flins) into believing yes, this is definitely Illuga

a 40/40 between comedy and mystery. 10 is romance and the last 10 is lohen questioning his life choices resisting the urge to yell "JUST FUCK ALREADY" at faelight

my brain went from Lohen enjoying the thrill of being hunted to god keep this man away from Rook Hunt from Twisted Wonderland to hare Lohen to Beastars au verbally throwing himself at carnivores

hands behind his back leaning into wolf Varka's space grinning like hes the predator between them rather than the prey

unfortunately cant have quite the same dynamic with the likes of say Illuga, Flins, or Childe since i think of them as a nightingale, raven, and whale/narwhal

but maybe Albedo as a dire wolf since those were recently artificially brought back by humans altering grey wolf dna like how hes an artificial human?

also i have no idea what bird Linnea is but she doesnt give me bird of prey vibes

wtf is Yelan i forgor and i fucking HAVE her uhhhhh =_= ig she might just not have any animal inspo

i remember thinking he gave me the vibes of the goat/sheep from s1 (i havent watched in a while ok) who is pretty popular among herbivores but keeps getting a lil close with carnivores almost daring them to take a bite of him before going as far as getting his hand in someone's mouth

i imagine he'd commonly be mistaken for a rabbit due to being a bit small for his species similarly to how he uses the medium male model thats shared with the teenage boys despite him being a grown ass man

maybe if its a beastars inspired au so its still in Teyvat with the Abyss the black on his ears is mistaken for Abyss taint since his eyes make it obvious theres some association there

either way hes gonna enjoy both being the prey and the predator of any dynamic hes in hed just enjoy the chase

had an au thought that involves an analysis of childhood trauma, how it effects the victims, and how society treats said victims but that analysis comes near the end so first:

when i was a kid i read a manga called "+Anima" which is basically your classic medieval world with 1 supernatural aspect: when children under 14 undergo a near death experience and an animal is nearby, they may gain a body mark that gives them access to that animal's abilities & body parts". these children are often shunned by society or exploited.

i dont remember if this is true, but i think its mentioned that sometimes the powers stay whike other times they disappear when the kids grow up.

so like my other childhood Spirit Animals but furry and explores childhood trauma

so anyways

throws Yanqing and Lohen in there

whats interesting is both are primarily small prey animals (swallow & hare) known for speed, yet they usually defy their flight instincts for fight

i like thinking about Yanqing as someone who gained his +Anima as a baby, the trauma being the war that left him with only Jing Yuan to luckily stumble upon him. a war that would then shape him. a trauma so great his life revolves around it. that warps him into a child too mature for children and an adult too immature for adults. an amalgamation of age and experience

because war and trauma do not wait until kids are old enough to process and understand them to appear in their lives. the kids do not get to wait until the time is right to have these concepts explained to them in a way they can comprehend. it hits them and they are forced to cope and adapt in whatever way is possible for them at that stage of life

meanwhile i cant make too many predictions on why he got a hare +Anima, but i can interpret this as the way trauma can transform a person. not quite a monster, but not quite the average person anymore either in the eyes of those who struggle to imagine his conflict. the way it can change a person in body and mind into someone unrecognizable to both others and themselves. someone who feels they must struggle alone because there isnt many around who can empathize much less stick around and help because, if they understand the struggle because theyre going through it too, they have their own problems to worry about. so they grow around the trauma, it sticking with them with no certainty of it ever getting better

and yes these are all concepts explored in some way in the manga i did quite enjoy it as a kid even if i couldnt fully grasp the surprisingly deep concepts of coping with childhood trauma through transforming as a metaphor of "adapt or die". the worldbuilding also adds that the powers sometimes stay in adulthood, which i interpret as the victims who never recovered from their trauma, with losing the powers as a sign that you dont need the animal's protection anymore to live your life. i also think the outcast and exploitation part of the narrative was a point to how sometimes trauma can be taken advantage off, used as a way to isolate a group of people, or even belittle them/make light of the trauma. traumatized children are especially vulnerable since they dont have the skills or experience to properly communicate their needs or understand how trauma affects them, much less resist exploitation or labels placed on them by adults bigger, stronger, and more powerful than themselves

overall yes i loved +Anima quite a bit it was a short and sweet manga series but looking back on it has made me realize what an absolute gem it was but it also fuels my hare Lohen & swallow Yanqing brain at the same time so yeah
