Game: Pokemon Elite Redux v2.65

Game Explanation: Pokemon Elite Redux is a Romhack of Pokemon Emerald that includes Pokemon from Gens 1-9, fakemon/new regional variants, new abilities, a multi-ability system, new/updated moves, and more with a focus on the battles rather than the story.

Challenge: Only Bird/Glowy Encounters

Qualifications:

Bird: Feathers, wings, beak, talons, and/or tail

Ex - Quaxly also qualified during the starter poll due to having all of the listed bird traits, though moving forward not all will be required to count as a bird due to how creative some pokemon get.

Glowy: Is capable of emitting light from its body

Ex - Charmander qualified during the starter poll due to its flaming tail that gives off light. Cyndaquil also qualified despite not always having its flame on its back due to simply being capable of flaring it up to glow.

Nickname Theme: Lightkeeper Members

Note: The Genshin wiki will be used for finding names. However, should anyone want to assign certain Lightkeeprs such as Nikita or Flins to particular encounters, feel free to make the request and I'll see if i can get that done. Here is the Elite Redux pokedex if you want to check ahead of time the kind of changes made to canon Pokemon and new fakemon added.

And for those people who have access to mobility devices but might benefit from a second chair they can abuse without risking expensive damage…

Erik Kondo has made a website, Open Source Innovations, that details plans for DIY wheelchairs. These wheelchairs can be made from common materials like wood, plastic, and pvc. They are lightweight and can be custom fit to the user allowing from the same degree of movement you would get from a custom chair. And they are durable and easily repairable. (he has been stress testing his latest design by dropping it down stairs, dropping it out of a car, launching it across a driveway, and throwing it off a deck). Its 12lbs and I think he said its was in the $200 ish range for parts.

He also is working on cheap, open source, accessible designs for beach chairs, off road chairs, motorized attachments (think smart drive), and so on. Plus he skateboards in his wheelchair. Cool dude, helpful info, pass it on.

boss fight but not gym fight

this time im fighting team magma's leader Maxie

he surprisingly doesn't run a sun team yes most of his pokemon have fire moves but there's only 2 fire types his team is more diverse which will be harder to deal with since i need more answers

unfortunately his ace camerupt is a tanky BITCH so i def need rain anyways to get a handle on that so here's the team:

i have filaev for hazard set up & rotom heat

anezka is here for rotom heat, porygon2, zweilous, & venasaur

alice is here for the revavroom, venasaur, & maybe camerupt

vlaicu is here for zweilous, camerupt, & maybe venasaur or revavroom

basu is here for rain set up, rotom heat. & camerupt

and rolf is here for the rotom heat, zweilous, & porygon2

i dont have as many counters for revavroom, venasaur or porygon2 so i just gotta hope they can handle it (thankfully it only has normal & 1 electric attack its mainly a stall mon)

also a bit worried i only have 2 mons maybe 3 ready for camerupt but hopefully the rain helps here (altho basu isn't safe bc hes weak to ground...)

so the next big fight isn't a gym

its a team magma fight (environmental terrorists but pokemon)

obviously running a sun team which i have a rain team for but the problem is its a multibattle so not only can i only bring 3 pokemon but i have no idea what my teammate is gonna do so i gotta pray shes helpful

heres what ive got

the leads are ninetales and shiftry

i gotta pray shiftry doesn't go for fake out on basu so i can switch into vytautas to set up drizzle bc idk how much faster ninetales will be compared to her and the slower weather setter wins the war

all 3 are rain mons so i was tempted to go double drizzle in case one goes down but 1. drizzle lasts 8 turns when set up by an ability in this game and 2. there is no resetting drizzle turns while rain is still up so i decided to let basu have swift swim instead

he'll switch into vytautus who will set rain and we'll try to proceed from there

vytautus will resist shiftry's grass moves and if alakazam comes in i'll go back to basu with volt absorb

clefable is a bulky bitch so i gotta chip otherwise i think sigilyth, ninetales, and charizard are simpler

so

electric types only have 1 weakness and 2 types not named electric resist it (grass & dragon)

my only dragon i think is altaria who is half flying sooo...

i have a bunch of ground types but i do need to take out the 1 pokemon with an ice type move

thankfully its rock weak so my lead filaev can hopefully take it out except wait its fast af and has an effective move

my plan isn't as extensive due to electric types being a lot more simple and i checked that no one has any crazy abilities that will get rid of ground's immunity so im hoping this isn't as bad as i thought

need flying & grass types for the team except the bug is half electric so i guess Lisabet is coming back for round 2

also electric altho i gotta be careful with the swampert

and a steel. mimikyu exists. so egle you too

here's what ive got

filaev sets up hazards + deals with the lead swellow, and maybe mimikyu, vikavolt, & rapidash

alice is a set up sweeper that at best deals with rapidash & maybe tsareena + vikavolt (altho vikavolt has levitate)

lisabet sets up tailwind support + deals with swellow, tsareena, & vikavolt

egle is the tank if things go south + deals with tsareena + mimikyu, maybe vikavolt & swampert if he can

chicherin is here for the swampert since its only weak to grass, but can also deal with rapidash + maybe vikavolt & tsareena depending on how that goes bc of fire weatherball. not as good as she would be in rain but i dont wanna give the swampert an edge

ashvapati is to handle the last of the weak spots by dealing with mimikyu, tsareena, & vikavolt while potentially being a tank if needed (altho he WILL die to a ground move so gotta watch out)

swellow will hopefully be out of the way quickly as a lead since i only have 2 direct counters to it but it also has u-turn so theres a chance it'll dip then come back later

also ik i seem to have a lot of vikavolt counters but thats purely by type the vikavolt is another speed boost demon like the early game yanma but its immune instead of weak to ground and has good coverage so i do need the counters

i also gotta keep chicherin safe as my only swampert counter altho egle is a good counter if needed since hes immune to toxic & high horse power + tanky mfer

ik i was checking stats a lot in the middle of the fight but there was a lot of close calls where im glad i did esp when the vikavolt had exactly 1 more speed than alice or when alice was dead to priority shadow sneak

me, at the mueseum fight: im finally caught up! now i can continue my illuga bird/glow only run!

the hard part of the museum gauntlet is just that: it's a gauntlet. it's 3 battles in a row with no break in between, so i can't rearrange my team or heal between battles.

so i essentially have to plan for 3 simultaneous battles rather than just 1

it also means im prepping for 8 pokemon instead of 6

there is a trend of water types in battles 2 & 3, but its not safe to bring a grass type since there's a lot of counters in the form of poison/flying

not to mention ice coverage so its not safe to bring my now electric/ground raichu

my electric types basically have to dodge 1 ground type in toedscruel

ill probably bring alolan raichu to handle them but the only issue is the crobat with a fast bite & sharpedo with a fast crunch

i can probably outspeed with surge surfer in electric terrain tho so as long as i can oneshot we good

ill bring more electric types in case tho and probably a flying type to handle the ground grass & bug types

as you can see there have def been some nickname changes but it should be ok

i have 2 bulky mons, a tailwind setter, a set up sweeper, and they can all deal decent dmg

jing yuan ending up conflicted bc hes so so glad that yanqing managed to defy all odds and live a long, healthy life despite the wars hes fought but also heartbroken to see his baby so seemingly quickly withered and on death's bed

he was screwed from the start. he either buried yanqing in a starskiff, had nothing left of him to bury, or was buried himself. this kind of ending just twists the knife a bit, a realization that even the best case scenario would be a gut punch
