I think some people think it might be overrated? It was one of the major anime people went on about when it came out- ive not watched it but it seems like a good anime??

ive never watched it either but i hate it bc i see it everywhere so i think that might be partially their reasoning and also that it seems like its probably wayyyy overrated?? idk imo i just dont like seeing it everywhere

yeah it probably is overrated tbh. like people are dubbing it one of the 7 best animes of all time or something and it proooobbbabbbly isn't. From what I've seen it's decent but overrated. 

I think something problematic happens??? Or several problematic things happen and people hate it because the characters aren't handled properly??? I'm a little sick of it tbh but i guess it just annoys me a little that it's literally everywhere and you can't escape it. also some of the fandom is really shitty from what i can recall so that might be a reason too??? idk man the reasons are probably a lot deeper than that but it does sorta just seem like people hate it bc it's so popular lmao
