Harrow County No. 7
by Cullen Bunn and Tyler Crook
The Great July Comics Read!
I fell off reading comics a few years ago, and I really want to get back into them. Not just because I have a massive to-read pile too this day but also, I just really like them.
Anyway, I'm gonna read a comic a day in July. This can be a single issue or a trade paperback or a whole graphic novel. I can also only read parts of a trade or graphic novel if that's all I feel up to. Basically, just wanna enjoy comics again.
If you don't know, the difference between a trade paperback and a graphic novel is generally as follows: A trade paperback (which can also be a hardback) is the collection of a single story arc from an ongoing comics. Usually 6 issues in one book. A graphic novel is a complete story that was put out in book format from the start. There's wiggle room in the definition. Watchmen, for example, was a 12-issue comic that was then collected into a single trade paperback. But as it is the entire story, it is also technically a graphic novel. And those giant books of entire 60-issue runs of superhero comics are technically trades and graphic novels for the same reason.
Anyway, first up is Harrow County:
Southern gothic horror with magic. Written by Cullen Bunn (a personal favorite) and wonderful painted art by Tyler Crook. There's only 8 trades (32 issues, so 4-part story arcs instead of 6), so I may just fall all the way into it this first week.
Been getting some of that good horror injected directly into my veins through some awesome horror comics!

In the space of 24 hours, I found out there was a sequel series to Harrow County. Then I found out it ends on a cliffhanger and hasn’t had a new chapter since 2022 y’all I am not OK.
