Spanish composer Alberto Iglesias finally gets his chance to score an epic of biblical proportions with Ridley Scott’s “Exodus”. The result is unfortunately a cluster of generic action music with hints of creativity due to interesting instrumentation. A wonderful theme is introduced in “Into the Water” and could have easily been developed earlier on in the film yet it remains for only one crucial sequence. Highlights also include “Opening + War Room”, “Returning to Memphis” and “The Ten Commandments”. While the score contains additional help by Harry Gregson-Williams and Frederico Jusid, it never rises above its material and is sadly, a missed opportunity - 6.5/10.
