Hmmm. No.
I have spent the last 24 hours completely freaking out about AI art and feeling like art is a joke and I’ve made a huge mistake building my life around it and dad was right all along and and and
It may not exactly be that grim but big fear is everything in the future is going to be repetitive marvel movies with ai art to completely replace people’s contributions, and everything is going to look the same and there won’t be meaning in anything, and it’ll sell.
And hey, if someone wants a different style so it looks a little less samey don’t worry this other ai can do that too.
I’m being real anxiety on main but some of this ai art looks pretty damn good and it’s like wow I wasted my life or something.
At least I’ve been doing some traditional mediums or I’d be losing it even worse than this.
danny b signing marc staal yet another reminder that none of these guys give a shit about anything if they feel it helps the team. 👍 like it’s even going to help the team. completely fucking cooked homophobe. thanks. amazing. wonderful.
oh jesus christ ive never actually engaged with a huge fandom before the tag is fucking GOING at light speed
So, I came across this exchange on Facebook and it's really a clear lesson in how violence is a process:
On Wednesday (March 17th), a 75 year old Asian woman was attack on the street by a white man, literally A DAY after six Korean women were gunned down:
The 76-year-old says the attack in San Francisco was totally unprovoked. She hit back, sending the man to the hospital on a stretcher, his f
So of course when I come across a discussion on this we have a white man who is The Authority on All Racial Matters:
To be clear, the "maybe we're jumping the gun" on saying that the attack was racially motivated bit is violence. And when called out on it, the guy doubles down on his point by clearly declaring that racism was NOT a factor in this attack and that we "don't have the facts yet." And that calling the attack racially motivated is just as stupid as the man attacking the 75 year old woman.
This is 100% straight clownery. This person is a fool, but worse yet; he is aiding in the process of violence that will just allow for another person to become a victim of violence.
"How?" You might ask. "How is he, some dweeb with a shit opinion, doing this from Facebook?"
Because: when you normalize racial violence by making the racial part invisible, it no longer seems like a systemic problem. It makes it impossible for one to connect individual acts of racism to the "policy" and rhetoric from US government leaders who reacted to a deadly pandemic with denial and anti-Asian racism and xenophobia. Instead of seeing this as a problem at scale, this becomes a "random act of violence" that is not connected to a larger issue.
Smug "bothsideism" is fucking STUPID. It's idiodic and reductive. We don't need perpetrators of racism to say "I'm racist" because, newsflash: MOST RACISTS DON'T THINK THEY'RE RACIST!! And we for damn sure aren't going to wait for cops to call it out as racist terror.
Sorry to get shouty, but this pisses me the fuck off. Call out shitty bad takes like this when you see them.
