DOTN will finish in red i.e. it won't even break even, let alone be profitable for which it would have to make over $180 million (to be considered successful) Who cares about Marry Me? FYI that one will be what's considered profitable soon because it had a small budget. DOTN making slightly more is irrelevant, what's important is that it makes its money back in the end. It won't. DOTN was Number #1 at the box office for 3 days! It didn't flop at all. I don't know what that anon was talking about.

They’re trying SO hard to twist reality to suit their purposes. But it’s tough to argue against the truth.

And the truth is that it was at #1 everyday at the domestic box office for the week of February 11, except Valentine’s Day, when, predictably, Marry Me was #1, for one day.

To be fair, DOTN hasn’t recouped the cost of production at the box office yet. This anon is using that fact to say that the movie is a failure, even as the #1 new release in China for this week, even as it continues to hold at #5 worldwide. It did not meet expectations in China but there are so many other factors influencing that fact besides Armie Hammer. And let’s not forget that we are still in the midst of a deadly global pandemic.

What my anonymous detractors fail to understand is that the numbers don’t matter all that much to me, it’s the fact that people went to see a movie starring Armie Hammer in 2022 at all that I’m celebrating, considering the fact that that he’s become yet another casualty of cancel culture, based solely on internet rumors and unproven allegations from a known stalker represented by the queen of celebrity shakedowns. These contrarian anons simply want to rain on my parade about something that doesn’t even matter to me on my own blog.

The fact that DOTN was #1 in its opening week is simply a bonus. I posted two articles that mentioned box office numbers to compare it to Marry Me because I thought the JLo connection was ironic, and that was the clearest way to express it, imho. Haters wanna hate, and quibble over numbers.

Yet even in doing so, they can’t fight the fact that it’s still a popular movie at the box office worldwide (which to them means only China, apparently.)

If all of our harmless fun is so silly and pointless, why does it drive you all so crazy?

Ironically, the greater your anger at us, the more we can control you, by giving us the power to trigger your most negative emotions.

Yet you are powerless to move us in any way, except perhaps to entertain us with how easily triggered you all seem to be by a T-shirt, or a pair of socks, or a tote bag.

Or a post on Instagram that might mean something to us but should mean nothing to you. Or so it would seem.

You burn with such hostility for total strangers over our joy about a t-shirt that you feel compelled to wish someone dead and announce it anonymously in as many open Charmie inboxes as you could find. Yet even you must have known how pathetic it was, since you lacked the courage to actually own it.

We have the power to ruin your day, and all you ever manage to accomplish is to make us laugh.

Do you fear that we might be right? Is this what truly enrages you? You do realize that anger is a response to fear. So what are you so afraid of?

If we are indeed a ship of fools, then why not sail away from us and seek out happiness on your own terms, instead of making yourselves so miserable with fear and hatred?

There is room enough in this world for all of us. We accommodate your views without actively seeking you out to harass you. Why not give us the same courtesy?

Love is love is love. And there’s enough of it for everyone, no need to be so stingy with it.
