The Haunted AU

Ayano has succeeded in killing off her rivals, and now lives happily in a relationship with her Senpai. However, the ghosts of her rivals still haunt the now school where they perished, now shut down and abandoned due to its reputation with student deaths.

Law is an ex-surgeon who sought to find the truth about illnesses, he ended up dissecting hundreds of ill patients instead of giving them, the then used but ineffective, cures. His mentor angered by his insolence dissected him and threw the body parts into the river. This is why Law can rearrange body parts on people. He became a demon after death because they saw the potential for evil within him. Except he isn't evil, although not good either, and only wishes to research medicine to progress the art from what it once was.

Sanji’s Diable Jambe power move comes from the fact he was cooked alive in his oven, the same one installed into the mansion, this is his spirit lock item. He has a strong desire to feed anyone who is hungry, even the dead, comes from the fact he used to serve the homeless that sometimes came begging near the neighbourhood he was in, as he was once homeless as a child before being taken in by a high end family.

Devil fruit users in canon are affected by sea water (or any water?) weakening their powers and rendering them useless. AU ghosts and demons are weakened by water in the same way, only if it had something to do with their death (they are also the canon Devil fruit users).

Marco was Ace’s guardian ghost and his Champion. His spirit is tied to the phoenix pendant Luffy now wears which Ace once had, he added two of Ace’s necklace beads in his birth stone colours - which has the added bonus of warding off evil spirits.

Ace and Marco are being held hostage by the Mariejois Reapers (yes this is the name I picked (so far) for the World Government, it may change later), sealed within the spirit realm, so they cannot help Luffy outright - which at the start they are non-pulsed about, but the deeper he becomes involved with the Reapers the more they attempt to assist.
