Kuopio’s big cemetery - part 2 / Part 1 Photos taken by me.
Red Moment by Pekka Nikrus
And this small separated cemetery was for all those who died in the war. There also was separated stone for the area’s churches during the years. And a map where the war had been! At least that’s what mom told me. But this kind of history monuments and stones are something what I wish we had more around here. Since there were the first ones.
Kuopio’s big cemetery - Part 1 / Part 2. God, I love this place. If I would live near big cemetery like this, I would be there every day for hours.
Some photos from my visit on big cemetery near by. I went there on Friday. That first photo is the entrance area and, God, I gasped happily when I saw it. The feeling in that area was so strong and the same whenever I step in old huge church during my travels! It was wonderful feeling! Literally made me feel like “stepped inside Lord’s house”, but then behind the gate, on the actual cemetery area. Nothing. There was a feeling of nothing. It was heck confusing. But nonetheless there were pretty graves / tombstones. I think my favorites are that wooden cross (pic 6) and tombstone next to it (pic 7). 6 because it was for 4 sisters. Two siblings had died only a year apart from each other and the last other two, also, had died (later) with year apart. I wonder could it had been because they missed their dead sister so or illness... And then pic 7 tombstone fascinates me because of the mark on it. There was no names, no dates, nothing. Just that mark.
Mom and I went to visit another cemetery in near by town today. This cemetery too had weird empty feeling in it. No calmness or peacefulness. But it had old graves a lot, with new ones too. And many tombstones actually had the title of the dead person written on which made me happy! There were many farmers for example.
