Hope you like my first attempt at truly taking the Sims way too seriously! I've created fake magazine covers for the 6 teens in my main household, and I'll be posting them over the next day or so. Haven's bio is under the cut, if you're interested!
(links will be added as I make more posts)
Others in this series: Heather | Chloe
Haven Marrone is a force to be reckoned with. She's the oldest of 5 siblings and has been parentified her whole life by her alcoholic parents. Tired of being treated poorly, she ran away from Selvadorada and started living on the streets of San Myshuno at 13. To get by, she stole a guitar and taught herself popular songs to get money from onlookers. About 2 years later, she ran into a teen named Wes, someone who also ran away from home. They quickly became friends and stuck together, stealing what they could and sharing their spoils with each other. But 6 months later, they finally got caught. When Wes reentered the foster care system, he demanded that they find a home for Haven, too, rather than send her back to her parents.
Now Haven’s 16-going-on-17. She was born in the spring, has the Short-Tempered and Perfect Pitch traits, and aspires to be a famous musician tomorrow—not just when she ages up to be a young adult. She’s a prodigy at the guitar and piano, and now that she’s in foster care, she hopes to pick up more instruments. Haven is also known for her vocal power—she can shatter glass and out-belt the Broadway greats in their primes. She resonates strongly with punk as an aesthetic, musical genre, and lifestyle (see brightly dyed hair and preferred clothing style).
This is her first foster home, so Haven’s understandably wary of everyone in it and everything about it. But Wes is inexplicably here, too. And she trusts him, so she thinks she’ll be okay for now.
Wes: There you are. Thought you might have run away already.
Haven: God, you’re clingy. I checked out a record store in Copperdale with Cassandra. Pretty fucking cool. The perfect place for a jam sesh.
Wes: Cassie, huh? You move fast.
Haven: Very funny. You know she’s dating someone, right? That Sidney Price guy.
Wes: So?
Haven: So, I’m not her type in the slightest. I might as well get used to being a lonely Windenburg farmer.
Wes: Well, then, allow me to be your fairy godmother. Got an invite to a nightclub from Wolf. Remember him? The club’s all the way in Evergreen Harbor, but he swears by it. Here, I’ll send you his text.
Haven: Got it. Dew Point? What kind of name is that?
Wes: They’re weird in the Harbor. But they’ve allegedly got good drinks, they don’t check IDs too closely, and weed’s legal there. What’s not to like?
Haven: And you’re sure it’ll be...my kind of scene? You know what I mean.
Wes: Haven, Haven, Haven. When have I ever led you astray?
Haven: Well—
Wes: On second thought, you don’t need to answer that. Wolf seems right up your alley—don’t think I’ve seen him in anything other than black outside of school. You’ll love him.
Scene 2 - Inside the Fosters home
Heather: Thanks so much for staying over, Rani. To be honest, I thought I’d be all alone on my birthday.
Rani: Alone? You’ve got 5 other teens in this house! I’m jealous, honestly.
Heather: I guess so...but I’ve only known them for a few days. Chloe’s nice, but she’s always at soccer practice or the gym.
Rani: I get it. I know we don’t know you that well, but Marissa and I had fun. And sorry she had to duck out so early—her parents might actually keel over and die if she misses a single science fair.
Heather: That’s all right. I’ll see you both in school on Monday. Have a safe trip back to Oasis Springs!
Scene 3 - Inside the Fosters home
Haven: Makeup done, hair done...I clean up pretty good!
Cassandra, on the phone: [Why am I traveling all the way to the Harbor tonight?]
Haven: Because your new BFF needs a wingwoman. Some guy named Wolf invited Wes to a club, and Wes invited me, and I don’t know anybody else there.
Cassandra: [Wolf invited you guys? He said he had work tonight! That bastard.]
Haven: You know him?
[Do I know Wolfgang Metzinger? snorts Only since he bit my arm when I wouldn’t share my chorizo back in second grade. That asshole’s usually one of my best friends.]
Cassandra: Haven: Usually.
Cassandra: [He does stupid shit sometimes. Can’t help it.]
Haven: Well, let’s hope he’s trustworthy tonight. When I go too long without a date, I shrivel up like a raisin and waste away.
Haven: Seventeen as of next week, and hardly. [pauses] All right, Wes is ready to go. I’ll be waiting for you at Dew Point, and if you want me to remain a voluptuous grape, then I’ll see you there.
Cassandra: [Never say those words in that order again.]
Hey all! Hope everyone's having a great start to the new year. Sorry for falling off the face of the earth--I was in the midst of a brutal interviewing process for a corporate job (while working full-time), then got said job and immediately traveled back to my family's home country, then sent my laptop away for repairs after it BROKE 😒, then packed up my entire life and moved to a new city, then started a new job, then got my laptop back (couldn't play the Sims while it was broken!). It's been a very busy last 2 months for me!
The Fosters will return very soon. I'm excited to share what I've been up to! I've also started a few smaller save files (very personal, just for fun), and I'd love to share pictures from those as well. If you're still with me, thanks for sticking around! I can't wait to see what all my mutuals have been up to this past holiday season.
Left to right: Fosters save, Magic save (household #1), ??? save (hard to explain), Magic save (household #2)
Scene 4 - Dew Point, Point Promise, Evergreen Harbor
Haven: I told you it would be worth it.
Cassandra (scoffing): We’ll see. The air here is killer.
Wolfgang (arriving with Kiernan and Morgan): That’s how it is in the Harbor. Wolfgang, at your service.
Haven (shaking his hand): Wes’s new friend.
Wes: A little bit of a stretch, but sure.
Wolf: This is Morgan, who technically doesn’t do introductions, and my boyfriend, Kiernan.
Cassandra: Your boss must really like you, Wolf. Giving you a one-hour shift and all.
Wolf (ignoring her): Kiernan and I are gonna go dance. You’re welcome to join us.
Scene 5 - Dew Point, Point Promise, Evergreen Harbor
Morgan: So, Wolf was saying…you're new to Windenburg, right?
Wes: Yeah, me and Haven. We're in a home for the time being.
Morgan: Wow, that sucks. Must be hard for you.
Wes (thinking to himself): God, she feels bad for me, doesn’t she? I can see it in her eyes. A damn charity case.
Wes: There's a rumor going around school…is it true that you sell drugs?
Morgan: Someone's forward.
Wes: No point in beating around the bush.
Morgan: Why? You trying to buy some?
Wes: Do you?
Morgan: There's no way I'm telling you that.
Wes: I mean, you've got the perfect face for it. No one would suspect you—
Morgan: I can't tell if that's supposed to be a compliment or not.
Wes: —but I get my weed elsewhere. I'm just curious.
Morgan: Don't hold your breath.
Wes: Why deal? You're, what, 16? 17?
Morgan (murmuring): Almost 18.
Wes: Same here. That shit could ruin your life. Besides, the Target in Del Sol pays well—I could put in a good word for you.
Morgan: Have you ever been to San Myshuno? Spent some time in the Spice Market? Because I feel like you wouldn’t be interrogating me like this if you had.
I'm so grateful to y'all for supporting my series. Your likes, reblogs, and messages mean so much to me. Episode 2 will probably start at the end of this week or the beginning of next week, so keep an eye out for that! In the meantime, I'll be introducing more side characters, sharing pics from my personal gameplay, etc.
Scene 6 - Dew Point, Point Promise, Evergreen Harbor
Haven (thinking to herself as she washes her hands): Finally, a good night out. No dates lined up yet, but at least Wes was right about the drinks. And Alana definitely gave off the right vibes. I’d better get back out there.
(spots Molly Prescott drinking from a bottle on the bathroom floor)
Hey, she looks familiar. Wasn’t she the girl who gave me attitude at the movie theatre? I could give it right back to her...seems like she’s having a rough time, though. Probably should play it cool.
Haven: What’s up with you?
Molly: Fuck off.
Haven: Fine, then.
(turns to leave)
Maybe find a better place to get fucked up than on a grody bathroom floor.
Scene 7 - Dew Point, Point Promise, Evergreen Harbor
(Wes and Morgan dance together, as do Wolfgang and Kiernan.)
Wolfgang (thinking to himself as he's distracted the sight of someone who looks familiar): Hm?
(realizes it's his ex-boyfriend)
Robin.
Kiernan: Babe? Everything all right?
Wolfgang: Uh…yeah. Everything’s great.
(Robin spots him and glares)
Wolfgang: On second thought, I’m a bit tired. Think your parents will be asleep by the time we get to yours?
Kiernan: They’re old as hell. Of course they will. Though you’ll have to sneak out through my window in the morning.
Wolfgang: Deal.
Scene 8 - 28 Windslar
Wes: So, was I right, or was I right?
Haven: Meh.
Wes: Oh, come on. I saw you get that girl's number.
Haven: Her number, not a dance…or a kiss…
Wes: You're rusty, that's all. Hang with Wolf and his people and you'll be bagging babes in no time.
Haven (exasperated): Oh my God, Wes.
Wes: You should let me do my thing. I’m the expert here and the one who actually had a successful night.
Haven: Morgan, right? She's into you?
Wes: I think.
Haven: You think?
Wes: Hey, these things take time. Even for experts.
My first attempt at a gameplay edit. It could use a bit of work, but I had fun making it! Wes will be introduced soon (he's another one of the main foster kids), but you can read a little bit about him in Haven's bio. Cassandra Goth, or Gótico in my save, rounds out the trio.
Transcript below the cut.
Transcript:
Wes: We could skip...
Haven: It's our first day. I've already got detention. Let's not push it.
Wes: What do you think, Cassie?
Cassandra: I think you're hopeless. And don't fucking call me Cassie.
Wes (grinning): I think the three of us are going to get along just fine.
Hello again! Long time no see. Work got crazy these last few weeks, and I had little time to get this episode out. Thankfully, I pulled through. I'm excited to show y'all the second episode of the Fosters series! Part 2 drops tomorrow.
Scene 1 - 28 Windslar
Haven (checking her phone): 7:00AM. Spectacular. Happy birthday to me.
(heads downstairs, scowling) And Chloe’s making breakfast. That’s just great. Oatmeal pancakes and protein shakes for everyone.
Josh: Hey, isn’t today your birthday?
Haven: Nothing gets past you.
Josh: Well, I hope your day improves. And I like your t-shirt.
Haven: Thanks. I stole it off some guy back in San Myshuno. Never got a chance to actually read Thrasher.
Josh: Really? I’ve got a couple of older copies that I brought with me. Consider it my gift to you.
Haven: You don’t have to do that.
Josh: Relax, it’s your birthday. I hardly read them, anyway.
Haven: Damn it. I’ll have to get them after school. Cassandra’s waiting for me out front.
Chloe: You’ll miss my pancakes...
Haven: I’ll live.
Scene 2 - Copperdale Prep
Cassandra (sheepishly): So...I probably should have checked to see if Dunkin’ was actually open before dragging you out of your house early...
Haven: Renovations. Shit happens. I’ll just eat a full lunch.
Luna (kissing Malcolm Landgraab): Missed you last night, Mackie. Thought you were going to come over.
Haven: Nevermind. I’ve lost my appetite.
Haven (going about her day): I’ve had worse birthdays, honestly. Nothing beats having glass bottles thrown at your head while trying to put a toddler to sleep. Stuffy uniforms and boring classes are heaven compared to that.
Wes (walking into class late): Another detention, ladies and gents. I’m thinking about going for the world record.
Haven: As much as I hate to admit it, Windenburg and Copperdale Prep are kind of growing on me.
Mostly thanks to Wes and Cassandra. Though Wes did invite his...situation to the get-together our foster parents are throwing for me later tonight, so he’s on my temporary shit list.
Haven (playing piano in a restaurant after school): I even managed to convince Solstice to let me practice on their grand piano on my days off from work. They think they’re cheating me by getting free performances. I just want the experience.
Scene 3 - 28 Windslar
(The birthday is a low-key affair at the Brookestone-Walker residence. All the foster kids are in attendance, along with Cassandra and Morgan.)
Haven: And fine, Morgan isn’t bad at all. She’s friends with Cassandra and Wolfgang, so she has to be cool. I guess it just feels weird to watch Wes focus his attention on someone else, even though I’m not interested in him at all.
Morgan (telling a story to Wes and Haven): You should have seen the look on her face! She had no idea we knew her favorite...
Haven: He’s like family to me now.
It’s strange learning how to fit into this new, makeshift family. I feel like I’m constantly saying the wrong thing. I’ve never cared so much about how people see me. I don’t know if I want them to like me...I just don’t want them to hate me.
(Audreyanna hands Haven a gift.)
Haven: I didn’t think you were going to get me anything.
Audreyanna: You only turn 17 once, Haven. I remember that age very well. I hope it’s your best yet.
Haven: Thank you.
Scene 4 - Outside 28 Windslar
(Morgan and Wes sneak outside.)
Morgan: I’ve been trying to figure you out for a while now.
Wes: And?
Morgan: And I’ve realized that it’s pointless. I simply am never going to get you.
Wes: I doubt that.
Morgan: You never give me a straight answer. You talk a big game but haven’t made a move. How are you so sure?
Wes: You already have me. There’s nothing more to get.
(They kiss.)
Morgan: We’re right in front of your house, you know.
