this week was sooo busy and i am sooo tired. but eddie is here. he's rubbing my back and he's kissing my shoulders. he's reading me a story. and everything is ok. i love him. i love you.
If you’re still taking prompts, can you do a story about teenage Natsu and Lucy and maybe an accidental kiss?! 😘 Please and thank you!
Funny story, I had 4/5 of this done a while ago, but no ending - let it rest and then tonight - BOOM! I felt compelled to finish. I hope you enjoy! Just under 900 words of fluff!
Natsu enjoyed hanging out with Lucy at her dad’s house. Well, it was really more of a mansion - at least ten times bigger than the apartment he shared with his dad and brother. It wasn’t just the servants and endless offers of food. No. Natsu felt happiest when he was near Lucy. The endless offers of food were awesome, but all in all, a side-perk.
“I gotta go or my dad’s gonna send out a search party.” Natsu tossed his books into his school bag and smiled at Lucy. “You studied enough for both of us.”
“It doesn’t work like that!”
“Pfft. Sure it does.” He swung the bag over his shoulder. “I listened to you explain your answers and that counts as studyin’ in my book!”
Lucy slowly shook her head. “Doing the work for yourself and eavesdropping on me as I study are not equal!”
“Equal? Maybe not, but more than I usually do!”
Natsu’s cheerful admission made Lucy cringe. “If you’d do just a bit more, I know you could raise your grades.”
“My grades are good in the classes I enjoy. Don’t worry about me, Lucy.” Natsu moved closer to his best friend and pinched her cheek. “My report card can stand a few C’s and D’s. My dad understands I’m not all fired up for English class.”
“Hmmpf!” Lucy frowned as she rubbed her face. “Stop pinching my cheek!”
“You sure you want me touchin’ elsewhere?” Natsu chuckled. “I’m game.”
“You know what I mean!” Lucy couldn’t help blushing as she thought about pushing her and Natsu’s friendship further. “Don’t make me give you a Lucy-kick.”
“Fine.” Natsu leaned over Lucy’s desk and closed her textbook. “Walk me out?”
Lucy stood up and rolled her eyes at Natsu. “What, you want me to watch you stuff your face one last time?”
“Yeah! Your dad caught me last week and I don’t want to feel like that ever again.” Natsu cajoled, “You gotta be there or else it’ll be weird.”
“Fine.” Lucy giggled. After all, she was repeating Natsu’s own words from earlier. “You’re really concerned with weirdness lately.”
“Because you’re weird!”
“Me? You’re weird!”
“You’re both weird.” Jude Heartfilia entered his daughter’s room and crossed his arms. “It’s getting late. I’ve asked the chauffeur to drive your friend home.”
“Thanks Mr. H.” Natsu grinned even wider as the nickname made Lucy’s father grit his teeth.
“Natsu was just leaving.” Lucy moved to her father and hugged him. “He was saying he didn’t want to keep me up past my bedtime.”
“Hmmpf.” Jude stared with gimlet eyes at Natsu. “Let’s agree to disagree.”
Natsu ran with Lucy’s version of the truth. “Oh yeah, Lucy’s been lookin’ real haggard lately. I totally think she needs more beauty sleep.”
“Thanks.” Lucy glared at Natsu. “I regret not throwing you out now.”
“Me too,” Jude matched his daughter’s expression. “Natsu, it isn’t done to remark upon a lady’s exhaustion.”
“I know, I only said Lucy was lookin’ tired.”
Jude and Lucy blinked silently as Natsu beamed happily.
Lucy sighed and pressed a kiss to her father’s cheek. “Good night.”
Frowning, Jude said, “I’ll make sure Natsu gets in the car safely.”
Lucy took Natsu by the arm and dragged him past her father, over he shoulder, she said, “No need, I’m sure you’ve got some kind of business to finish.” Jude watched them march down the hall and out of sight.
“Hey, not so rough!” whined Natsu.
“As if!”
“Eh, don’t think you could manage.” Natsu stopped walking. “You never let yourself react without thinking of all consequences.”
“So? What’s wrong with thinking?”
“You can’t live every day by thinking about everything!”
Natsu’s impassioned words were working on Lucy better than he could have guessed. She clenched her hands into fists on her hips. “I don’t always think, I can do stuff without planning.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah!” Lucy heard the waiting chauffeur honk the horn. “The car’s ready. Time for you to go.”
“Fine!” Natsu grinned. Them exchanging heated words wasn’t a fight - this was normal and quite usual. “Good night!”
Something about the exchange, Natsu saying ‘good night’ sparked an impulse in Lucy. She rushed forward to hug Natsu and planted a big kiss on his lips. Pulling back, she smiled in triumph. “Good night!”
Dazed and smiling all goofy, Natsu repeated himself. “Good night!”
Lucy smiled wider and kissed Natsu again, but this time, Natsu kissed back.
Only the horn blaring from the waiting chauffeur made them spring apart.
“Um, wait here.” Lucy ran outside and returned before Natsu lost his blissed expression. “Hey - ” Lucy took hold of Natsu’s hand. “I told Gary he could take a break. You want to sit in the garden with me for a bit and then get a ride home?”
Natsu nodded and then realized he’d need to try harder. “I want that more than food.”
Lucy giggled.
Hearing Lucy laugh made Natsu a bit more confident and bolder. “You said sit in the garden, but you really meant –” he used air quotes, “–saying good night, right?”
Lucy grabbed Natsu’s hand and headed towards the private garden. “Hells yeah.”
I feel happier tonight than I’ve felt in a long time. I’m excited for my job to start Monday. Tonight was the last night of “vacation” I had and I stayed home and watched Joe vs The Volcano with my cat. I had an extra good workout today so that might account for this feeling of peacefulness, but I’m also happy to be moving on from this period of unemployment and content with what I’ve done with it. Even when nothing is wrong, sometimes my body is still sad, but tonight I feel good. Good night.
I’d like to say that it’ll be done before season 2 starts, but I know damn well that it won’t be. This thing has consumed me.
She looked to him, and nearly jumped back at how close he had gotten. He stood mere inched from her face with a hungry look in his eyes. Not a lustful look, like she’d half expected, but a truly desperate look. She sensed a sort of buzzing energy radiating off his body, like it was everything he could do to keep still. When he spoke, his voice was hopeful, and barely above a whisper.
“There’s something....?”
The beeping of her earrings sent a jolt through her. She was out of time. It was now or never.
An impromptu idea came to her. She needed him to look away for only a moment. Unfortunately, he showed no sign of doing that on his own. He watched her expectantly, desperation dripping off of him, especially in the way his eyebrows were beginning to knit together under his mask.
She panicked.
“L-Look at that,” she stuttered and pointed to a random spot behind him.
His expression steeled and whatever excitement he had over what she might’ve said instantly vanished, replaced by a cold, sinking feeling. She was going to run away as soon as he turned his back, he knew it. And while he usually just accepted whatever rejection he received, he couldn’t handle all this unspoken tension between them, especially after what had just happened during their fight, and especially after he’d spent the last week pondering if maybe there could finally be something more between them. They needed to talk about this. He didn’t know if he’d survive another week like this.
“Ladybug-”
“Please.”
He stopped. Maybe it was the fact that Ladybug was always so confident, but the sudden look of pure terror in her eyes sent a white-hot iron rod right into his heart and he wanted nothing more than to promise her anything she wanted if it could ease that fear away. He didn’t know why, but he wouldn’t question it. His Lady never asked him for anything, she certainly never begged for anything. If she really wanted him to turn away so she could escape, he’d do it. For her, anything.
He closed his eyes and let out a defeated sigh. He felt his whole body deflate, as if gravity had gotten stronger for him alone. His head, shoulders, even his synthetic ears and tail, dropped down in submission as he slowly turned on his heel and took a step away from her, knowing she’d no longer be there when he turned back.
He stared out into the city, focusing on nothing. He knew damn well she hadn’t pointed at anything specific. He felt a twinge of anger boil up in his chest.
A twinge that he quickly smothered back down.
He was frustrated, and that was fine, he allowed himself to be frustrated. But he really shouldn’t be angry. Everything aside, he knew she had precious few moments until her transformation wore off and he knew how much keeping her identity a secret meant to her. He supposed he should take this as a hint that she hadn’t changed her mind about that, even after all this time. He had no right to be angry over that. He would respect her wishes.
He was no doubt alone at this point. Ladybug had probably fled already, leaving him to his own devices. He hated being alone, especially when he had so much he wanted to say and no one to listen. Knowing he’d been abandoned by his Lady just made him feel even lonelier. He had to talk to someone about this, he needed a friend to lean on right now. He wondered if Marinette was home yet...
His heart nearly stopped when two red-clad arms wrapped around his waist and he felt a hot face nuzzling against the back of his neck as well as a warm body being pressed against him. And not a moment later, he watched as a pink energy pulsed over the two red-clad arms, leaving white sleeves and bare hands in it’s wake.
Not only had Ladybug stayed....
She just detransformed... right behind him.
“Don’t freak out.” Her voice broke, barely above a whisper, as if her unmasked voice would give her away. She clung to him harder as she spoke. He felt her breath tickle the hair on the back of his neck and he couldn’t resist the shiver that went up his spine. It happened again when she continued. “Please don’t freak out.”
