keep alternating between "this is obvious shit why would i make this, let alone post it" and "i do this for free, i post it for free, who cares if it's not perfect, it literally doesn't need to be"

thinkin about this quote but like, a giant saying it to the tiny in their hands.
someday you will be 30 years old or thereabouts and sitting on your couch drinking a glass of white wine on a sunday afternoon and trying to decide what you want to order for dinner. and you'll be struck with a longing so powerful for a food that you grew up with and you'll know for certain that you can't have it anymore because it's not something you can really make, but it's also not something you can order because you don't live in the place where you grew up, and the thing you are craving is maybe like a really specific slice of pizza from a really specific pizza place two blocks away from your old apartment, or massaman curry from the thai place with the string lights and the little back patio. but you live thousands of miles away from that apartment now, and so you have to just sort of make do by finding the closest approximation to the pizza that you can find, and even though they say it's new york style pizza, it's not the specific pizza from the specific red sauce restaurant where the waiters knew your name and brought you little cups of vanilla ice cream without you asking for it. it's not a burger from the pub where the owner used to bring your sister a little pack of crayons and make sure you always got the big table in the back so you'd have lots and lots and lots of space to spread out with your coats and bags. and you definitely don't want to move back, because it's not really about that. you don't even really miss new york most days, and you're always ready to leave every time you go home to visit, but sometimes you miss it a lot. and really what it is is that you sort of miss the *idea* of new york, or new york as it exists in your head from when you were 9 years old, which isn't even a real place to begin with
