A bead of digital sweat appeared on Vox's face.

The silence was deafening. Tension weighed heavy on the air. All eyes were focused on the Princess of Hell, her date…

… and the Deadly Sins. 

Vox cleared his throat. Sure he had sent invites to all the ruling powers of Hell. Not only did he want them to witness his glory, but it would have been seen as an insult to Demon Royalty for an influential Overlord to hold a public event of this scale without inviting them.

He didn't actually expect them to show up. Highborn Demons tend to steer clear of Sinners' affairs.

Yet here they were. Most likely dragged into it by their Princess.

"Vox, where's my dad?! You said he'd be here!"

Ah shit. They're looking for Lucifer. Vox discreetly squared his shoulders.

Time to start the show. 

"His Majesty's somewhere." He gestured around. "Venue's packed and he doesn't exactly stand out, if you know what I mean," he added with a chuckle.

The new arrivals didn't seem amused. He noticed some of them were eying the weapon. Did they sense Lucifer's power?

Vox forced a smile on his face. "I get the hostility. I did humiliate him after all." He chuckled at the sharp look Charlie threw at him. "But Lucifer and I have put aside our differences. He's given this noble cause his blessing."

Charlie ignored Vox's response. His bowtie had caught her attention. It shined in red and white. Velvette's brooch and Valentino's hat had similar accents. Her throat constricted.

"Those are my dad's feathers!" Charlie exclaimed. "What did you do to him?!"

 "Now, now,  let's not jump to conclusions," Vox started, mentally kicking Velvette. "It's a gesture of your father's good will."

"Then where is he?!" 

"Oh for fuck's sake!" Velvette blurted out as she stomped to Vox's side. "We aren't your daddy's babysitters, Princess. Maybe he's avoiding you lot. Ever thought of that?!"

A shot of uncertainty. Charlie's heart plummeted to her stomach.

I think you should leave, dad. You've fucked things up for me enough.

"Maybe he is," she whispered. Vaggie's comforting hand on her shoulder helped hold back the tears. 

The Sins deflated as well. They knew Lucifer. His nervous retreat from the Sinner's rally had been broadcasted for all to see. He's likely hiding out of shame…. again.  

"Anyway…" Vox began, subtly nudging Velvette off to the side. "Truly this is a historic moment!" he boomed to the crowd. "To have Princess Morningstar and the Deadly Sins join us! All 7 Rings of Hell united against Heaven's oppression! Queen Lilith would be proud!"
