Discussion of Hellaverse observations (with some possible nitpicking), and possible headcanons:
The cherubs in the Hellaverse are based on the popular modern depiction. The modern Cherub is actually a misidentification of a type of angel known as a putto. What little descriptions of Cherubim we have, which admittedly may not be based on the original sources but are ancient to some degree, were large humanoid angels with 4 wings and 4 faces. Said faces were a human, a lion, an ox, and an eagle. All creatures viewed as pinnacles in the Animal kingdom. While whether this was the original version of them is debatable, they are at least the oldest known. This leads me to wonder if these old depictions were simply unknown by Viv and others at Spindlehorse, if the Hellaverse cherubs stole/usurped the name due to the original Cherubims being wiped out or going missing, or if the Hellaverse cherubs have true forms resembling the original Cherubims but with different animals, possibly as a more heavenly version of what Ozzie’s other heads are like, but they take on the cute forms to be Approachable. In the case of the 3rd scenario, it’s possible that many just grew to like those forms better, either because it made others not intimidated by them, or because they just liked being cute instead of imposing. I often wondered if Ozzie could have been a fallen Cherubim, and I still love it as a headcanon to this day, though the fact he’s been around since the start of Hell makes things less clear. I welcome thoughts and discussions on this thread, and if any of it inspires you creatively, I’m glad
Hazbin/Helluva Boss Theories (running thread, pg. 7)
7. Hell is a feeding construct made for the Root of Evil that was repurposed from the 7 stars (turned into the Seven Deadly Sins) of the Big Dipper constellation.
In Stolas' grimoire, he has it bookmarked on this page: symbols of a pentagram, an unknown but ancient language, thorns, celestial bodies, and the Big Dipper, alongside what I think is the sigil of the Root of Evil:
If the show creators were drawing upon the many myths about the Big Dipper and in particular focused upon this one, then the sigil they clearly created for the show aligns with the seven rings/stars of Hell being like an additional "tail" of the primordial plant-like alien monster that emerged from the apple that Eve/Rosie ate, the Root of Evil:
In other cultures, this constellation is a bow used to hunt a giant deer constellation called Sarva and in others it is associated with funeral processions, clearly linking this constellation to the concept of being simultaneously an afterlife and also a system designed to gather food in the form of souls for the Root of Evil.
Even the unique features of the Big Dipper's seven stars align very closely with how the kings of each Ring have been represented in the show:
This would explain why these entities have so much power to begin with because of their celestial origins, and it also calls into question whether every soul is basically the stuff that stars are made of, and perhaps this show centers on the universe going through constant cycles of reincarnation where souls are recycled and repurposed--perhaps that is what Stolas meant when he told Octavia that even if he "died" she could "find him in the sky".

Ozzie is definitely on my list of favorite demons. I mean, come on—he’s basically just a huge, cuddly teddy bear for emotional support. Oh, if I had the chance, I’d rush to hug him the moment we met!
