Greetings HoennChampionshippers, and a Happy New Year!
2022 marks the 20th anniversary of Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, where we were introduced to the Hoenn Region, and of course, met May and Steven for the very first time! Whether you’ve been in love with this pairing since then, or if you’ve just rolled into the ship now, I think we can all agree this milestone deserves a celebration.
Together with @basicallyanidiot, @shikisai-san, and @thoughts-of-a-bibleophile, we’ve cooked up a special, year-long event to commemorate this occasion—The HCS 2022 Bingo!
This special Bingo will run all year, from January 1st to December 31st.
The themes (in bold), are open to interpretation just like past shipping weeks, but now, there are Tropes and AUs that you can also opt to use as prompts! The outer 16 squares are all AUs (in italics), and the inner 8 squares are all classic tropes (underlined). Plus, we’ve added some Regional Bonuses—set HCS love in another region!
To participate, you can create an HCS-themed fanwork using either a theme word, an AU, a trope, or the Regional Bonus—this fills or marks off a square. If you can make a case for something matching a prompt, it works! Use one prompt from a square, or use them all! One work can be used to fill multiple prompts—and therefore, multiple squares! But remember, this is a year-long event—fill squares at your own pace until you complete a BINGO pattern!
All forms of fanart (illustrations, comics, scribbles, sketches) and all forms of fanfic (songfic, textfic, drabbles, one-shots, chaptered) are welcome! If you’re a moodboard creator, podfic creator, dreamer, plotter—if you want to create something from this bingo card, we’d love to see it! Be sure to use the tag #HCS2022Bingo, and fics can be uploaded to the HCS 2022 Bingo Collection on AO3!
We've attached some examples below as a guide for completed Bingo patterns. You can challenge yourself, or keep it chill! Will you go crazy and aim for a full blackout, filling every single square? Or will you cackle and simply mark off the Free Space? Do as many—or as little—as you want!
