I'm glad you think so! it was one of those ships that started out as me and my partner joking "what if instead of originshipping it was their dads". Then i thought about the concept too much and realized, that i found their dynamic really fun to play around with actually.
They're both kind of eccentric old men with Joseph being this wacky inventor kind of deal and Juan being an overly flirty idol with a dramatic personality and i think they'd pair well together. Plus if you add in the common headcannon of Joseph being a widow? Good stuff.
I think in my head it started as Juan wanting to annoy his son figure by being like "oooooh i'm gonna hit on your best friend and/or boyfriends dad you can't stop meeeee" to annoy him and then he found that Joseph was actually this very endearing man and he accidentally ended up getting attached. Steven and Wallace are not a fan of this <3
The name i coined for the ship is HoennMentorShipping due to Juan obviously mentoring Wallace and Joseph taking the player in under his wing in the early section of the Hoenn games.
