Cloaks and Feathers
For @hdcandyheartsfest 's prompt: Second Date CW: Veela Draco Draco was perched on the edge of his seat, his fingers tapping against the surface of the table, his delicate talons clicking against the wood. He reached over, pressing his hand against Draco's, steadying it. "It'll be alright." Draco glanced up at him and gave a firm nod. His wings were hidden beneath a cloak, which made him look rather lumpy. Although, he thought it was sort of cute. "You really don't have to wear that thing, you know." "Of course, I do. I'm not going to take the waitress out with my wings again." Draco was pouting now, his soft, pink lips turned outward. He had to stifle a laugh, as he remembered how Draco had shot his wings out in surprise and slammed them right into the waitress, as she had been bringing their lunch. Food had sprayed everywhere, and the poor waitress had looked absolutely dazed. It had been his fault really, he'd told Draco that he was cute, and he knew how fluttery his wings got when he was given compliments. Still, he hadn't expected such a violent reaction. Draco had been mortified and tried to flee, so Harry had to chase him down and tell him that it was okay. It had just been an accident, and he wasn't going to leave him over something as silly as an accident. He tightened his grip on Draco's hand, enjoying how smooth and soft his skin was. "You won't. I know you won't. You've gotten much better at controlling them." Draco gave a slight nod, seeming rather pleased with the praise, as his lips twitched into the outline of a smile. "Yes. I have." "Will you take the cloak off then?" There was a long moment's pause, before Draco reached over his shoulder and opened the clasp that held his cloak on. It dropped away, revealing his glossy, white wings. They shimmered in the pale sunlight, reflecting the rays from outside. Harry smiled. "You know I love your wings." Draco's pink cheeks deepened, turning something closer to red. "They are wonderful, aren't they?"
