I saw HAPPY DEATH DAY 2U, the sequel to HAPPY DEATH DAY. I watched the original after seeing the commercials for the new movie, and I was pleasantly surprised at how creative it was. "A cross between Groundhog Day and Scream," is how it's described, and that's very accurate. If the original is a pastiche of Groundhog Day, the sequel is a re-visiting of Back to the Future, which is a good thing. In fact, both movies are actually MENTIONED in the dialogue. The new film also includes one of the most touching Mother/Daughter relationship scenes I've ever witnessed.
