Also, sending love to the HDM fandom who interacted with me a lot earlier this year. My hyperfixation comes and goes so I'm pretty sure I'll be mass posting about HDM again when The Book of Dust 3 finally comes (Pullman is at four-hundred-something pages so he's making progress!)

His Dark Materials S01E03 (book+series spoilers)

My thoughts:

Where is the fandom??? When the book Good Omens was adapted as a TV show, the fandom exploded. I know that His Dark Materials isn't such an incredible adaptation, but it's still pretty good. Wakey wakey, fans!!

I like how the TV show explores elements from the other books as well. It's something which always frustrated me with the Harry Potter movies, but HDM doesn't commit this mistake.

I kinda ship Lord Boreal with his informant, now? Whoops. But really, he's so fascinated by this strange man from another world and whose soul is a snake. Their alchemy is incredible. I'd read fanfictions about them.

The spiel about daemons settling came straight from the book, but it was weird because Pantalaimon doesn't change as much as in the book (for budget reasons). I still appreciated it, though

People keep saying that Marisa wasn't as depressed and suicidal in the books than she's shown to be in the TV show and I gotta laugh. Have we read the same books? What was implied is now canon, that's all.

Benjamin's daemon visibly turned into Dust, so maybe Adèle Starminster is still alive? I hope so. Poor thing must be traumatized.

The scene where Lyra deciphers the alethiometer for the first time was incredible. I'm still not used at it being square instead of round, but eh. Not a big deal. It was a powerful scene.

omg omg I hoopeee someone at wizards of the coast hear about this and release an official HDM inspired campaign I would be so happy, its crazy that the crew have just as much nerdy passions as us the fans... maybe if someone messages jack to ask if his DM can put out some info on their campaign so fans could use it??? I would but I don't have twitter.. man i hope so. official release or not I so want a Pullman's world campaign so bad now.

That would be amazing, wouldn’t it! 

I doubt Jack has access to it (and I don’t think we can DM him) but I suppose all that it takes is to find a DM/GM who’s as much of a fan as you are and try to convince them to do exactly that!
