I think we are kinda sleeping on the fact that it took Wymack just minutes to accept that he was Kevin's father. He just believed him when the kid had only a letter and hope on his side.

Most people would've invalidated Kevin at least until the tests redults came but Wymack already saw him as his son either way. I love to think about this and the feeling he must have had when Kevin called him "dad" for the first time.
