If I had a nickel for every lesser known actor who got a main cast role in a piece of visual media that took a tired trope and redid it in a knew and very successful way, a piece of media that I then consumed, got obsessed with, and then by proxy got obsessed with the character that the actor portrays, and then went on to look into everything that actor has played in previously, just to find out that they stared in a short film that is very difficult to find, that tackles difficult topics about queer identities, gay men, and societal pressures around sexualities.... I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot... But it's really weird it's happened twice.

I just want to double check that I understand it right, soil that's slightly wet can absorb water faster because the water can just move along where the water already is, like it doesn't have to take time rehydrating the soil to move through it? Or is it more complex like having little plants and fungus living in damp soil uses the water? (But then they'd just get big from the water and be in the way?)

Certain Soil compositions contain microbes that break down a waxy material produced by organic matter within the soil. These microbes work best when the soil is cool and damp, and will slow as it gets hotter and drier. So in a drought situation, The microbes slow down and the waxy substance forms a hydrophobic layer. This effect can be worsened by wildfire, where a lot of organic material is burned away, because rotting organic material can hold up to 90% of it's weight in water.
