My Victorian AU is so much fun to think about, and one of my favorite parts is the way I'm trying to present the characters various relations to their culture?

Chay and Porsche were brought to london as children, before being stranded there when their parents died. They were young enough that Chay barely remembers them, or his life before London; he's completely cut off from his culture, except what he's able to piece together from the influences around him growing up. Except London had a much higher Chinese/Indian influence than Siamese/Thai because of the various trade agreements.

Porsche knows it's important to remember their roots, especially for Chay who doesn't have a tangible connection to them, so he tries. But he's much more focused on keeping them afloat to worry about maintaining traditions. He assimilates into the local cultures, picks and chooses what suits him best at the time.

Then you have Kim, who's coming to London for the first time. He's spent his life in Siam, except for his recent year or two studying abroad; either in China or Europe, I haven't decided. (Probably China for diplomatic reasons; most of Siam's trade at the time was indirectly through China, which was larger and more accessible to western powers). But despite growing up with the culture, Kim is actually, largely cut off from it. He doesn't maintain the traditions, doesn't practice the religions (Buddhism doesn't mix very well with organized crime and murder). He could be an invaluable resource to Chay, but... he had the luxury to not pay attention to his culture, because he never had to worry it would be taken away from him.

Using negative reinforcement won’t make him trust you, it will make him fear you and associate you with discomfort and terror. Please try to avoid sending mixed signals, he already has to deal with the terror of the situation itself he doesn’t need you giving him things while also scaring him shitless. Consent is still important even if he’s tiny. Let him move on his own as much as possible. You’ve already started breaking him it seems, I doubt he’ll run and if he does you’re faster than him.

Roman was silent for a moment. “You…have a point.” He looked at Virgil, who wasn’t currently paying attention to him. Instead, he was curled up with his head low. “I’ll try to refrain from scaring him further. I do want him to trust me, after all.”

headcanon 002:  it is a known FACT around the cave && with the team s that wallace west is not allowed to have caffeine. one time, he drank a monster because he really wanted to beat the new raid in destiny 2 && sleep is for the weak ( though he barely sleeps anyways ). he ended up needing to run from happy harbor to nearly the border of mexico THREE times because he full of too much energy. barry said his heart could have exploded. wally says it’s bullshit that he doesn’t get anymore caffeine because it makes him run faster && for longer ( so he thinks ).

She guessed it wouldn’t be the first time they had gotten in trouble together. And it’s better to not ask questions when it came to her dearest brother.

“I guess it couldn’t hurt too much to get away for a while.”

“Awesome, cool! Thank you. Could you, uh... possibly be ready by like. I dont know... two hours?” Quick getaways were better. Apollo wasnt certain just how annoyed his soon-to-be ex was, but it was better safe then sorry.

He spoke from a lot of experience there.
