Question.

What If Harry was given to Snape to care of by Dumbledore because some weird fairy tale reason like the obsessive strong love that Severus had for Lily will keep Harry safe. Would Harry be better off with him instead of the Dursley? Or is gonna come off a more messed up Harry?

Well, we see Snape have one roommate in canon. Voldemort makes Wormtail go live with him (presumably because he hates them both).

It's strongly implied that Wormtail is locked in Snape's closet, lives in his moldy basement, and is not allowed to come out except to serve Snape drinks.

Comparing that to how we see Severus treat the children he interacts with on a daily basis, who he is expected not to treat too terribly lest the board members complain and fire him, and it's not looking good.

I have 0% faith in this man raising a child or living with anyone. I have -100% faith that he'd manage better with James and Lily Potter's son.

OK but I freaking hate how domineering some people get with their headcanons. Like, OK, you believe this thing, that’s fine -- now please stop pressing it on me as if it’s fact. Unless the author/creator confirms something, it is not canon, OK? Good.
