absolutely the worst thing about writing is putting it in a drawer for 6 months, taking it out, saying "yeah, this is pretty good!", shopping it around, getting nowhere, and putting it away again. 2 years pass. you find the manuscript that you so lovingly printed, so proud of it. you open it up. you read the first page. "oh my god," you think immediately. "this badly, badly needs revision."
