I love how (s1) Heatwave constantly complains about how he's sick of being on Griffin Rock and he's sick of Kade, but literally ANYTIME Kade even so much as IMPLIES that he would rather have a different car, or God forbid starts spending less time with him, Heatwave just looks like this

Headcanon!

Heatwave assign himself to fight with the Autobots on Cybertron in the war. Instead, he got assigned to the Rescue team. Basically, Rescue team job is occupational recovery, helping an injured soldier and bring them back alive.

Heatwave was bitter about it, he got to talk with Optimus himself.

Asking why Optimus assign him in the Rescue team? He can fight! He is strong and capable crushing enemy without hesitations.

Then Optimus told him that Heatwave was something more than being a follower for the cause.

And finally, Heatwave accept himself to be part of the Rescue team. He was still bitter at first, but slowly, he loosen up little by little, enjoying his team's company.
