He approaches with a grim expression—he has to be perfect to pull this one off. “You know what I wanna say to a man like you?” It has to be perfect but hopefully. . .hopefully. . .this’ll make the paramedic that’s in line at the Burger King with him laugh. “Howdy.” And he winks with a smile.

“What is stronger than the human heart—which shatters over and over—and still lives?” It’s hard for them to be trapped in bed—to be trapped in his own thoughts which feel like a hand is coming down and suffocating him from above. His body aches to its very core. Of course Tadashi comes to visit him—he’s his knight—it’s his job. Alwyn reminds himself of this every day. Tadashi—as much as he wishes for it—is not his friend. He is obligated to at least pretend to care. Alwyn peers at Tadashi, head lifting from his pillow. His body feels as if it’s on fire. Nothing will quell this inferno—but it will dissipate. Soon, he hopes.

“my limbs are damaged.” the android was unable to look directly at the human. it was unclear if it was out of fear or anxiety- maybe a bit of both. but it was clear that he had pointed out the obvious since the limbs, that didn’t belong to him initially, were bent and broken.
@hecared rewrote this classic for a contemporary audience so i reillustrated it for him.
