Your meriwether/patsy post just made me cry. She would have been so good to him and I feel like he would have made her happy too ;_;

But I'm glad people are reading my silly thoughts on them! I really think she would have made him so happy; it seems that a portion his "depressions of the mind" were caused by the fact he couldn't seem to find a wife. Whether or not that was because he was wrapped up in a love that could never happen (Patsy) we'll never know, but perhaps!

We also know he struggled with laudanum and alcohol dependencies at the end of his life, most likely due to the fact no one but Clark could really understand the experience he went through out west. 

But I think provided Patsy didn't marry Randolph, I think their relationship would have been very interesting and they would have done their best to make each other happy. I think he would work very, very hard to make her happy and comfortable and in return, she would help settle his restless mind.
