A Coffee With Your Name On ~ Kim Heechul
Your breath hitched as soon as the director led you onto the set, where the nine members of Super Junior were already sat around. There eyes looked across as the rest of the line-up for the show all began to file in, some smiled in their direction, others, like you, preferred to look away and not allow yourself to get too overwhelmed by the situation.
“It’s good to see everyone all together,” Jeongsu spoke up, as everyone all sat around waiting to be instructed further.
Artists from all over Korea sat around you, you were the only foreign artist specifically invited to feature in the end of year broadcast, leaving you slightly stranded as everyone else got to know each other. You chose to sit back and try and watch how the situation began to unfold.
The director stayed by your side as the groups began to mingle, waving across to someone which quickly caught your eye. A slender man walked over to you a couple of moments later, brushing his hand through his long back hair, bowing before you before turning to face the director.
“This is Heechul,” he informed you, “he might be able to make you feel a bit more welcome.”
Your head nodded, bowing in front of him as you learnt to do so. His appearance was striking, his eyes already had your full attention, his lips were dark, and his cheeks carried a slight red blush marked up by the makeup artists who had already worked their magic. He waved you over to take a seat at the side of the set so you could get to know each other better.
It didn’t take long for you to find yourself settling in Heechul’s company, relieved to finally have a face in the room that you could at least try and rely on in amongst all of the others who knew one another.
“I promise no one here is as scary as you think,” he spoke up when he noticed your eyes beginning to look around in a bit of a panic. “It must be a little overwhelming to be so far away from home.”
“Slightly, especially somewhere where everyone seems to know everyone else,” you admitted, turning your gaze so that you looked across at him. Heechul offered you a soft smile, understanding how difficult the situation must have been for you.
As he spoke, his eyes continued to flicker across to the rest of his group who were all sat around, confused as to why one of their members had disappeared. “Maybe I could introduce you to the guys, we’ve all listened to your music before, they’re big fans.”
“Really?” You questioned, a little more surprised than you intended to sound. “I could do with getting to know as many people as possible seeing as I’m going to be here all week rehearsing with you all. I don’t think I can really be spending the whole time sat around by myself, can I?”
“Don’t worry, you’ve got a friend in me for the week at least, I’ll treat you nicely,” he vowed.
“Thank you,” you smiled, looking across the room to see the members of his group still looking across in your direction. “They look as if they might want you to head back over, you don’t have to stay by my side the entire time.”
Heechul’s head shook, pushing gently against your arm. There was no way that he was going to leave you alone, especially when you were the only one in the room who didn’t know anyone.
“Come say hello, I promise they’ll be kind,” he encouraged, standing up and offering his hand out for you to take, “you’ll be well looked after by my friends, promise.”
You took his hand, allowing him to pull you up and walk you across to where eight men sat, all with wide smiles as Heechul introduced you to them all.
“We already know who she is,” Siwon chuckled, standing up to greet you properly.
You glanced across at Heechul, noticing how red his cheeks became, “secretly, I already know who you guys all are too, I just didn’t want to embarrass Heechul when he told me all about you guys.”
His eyes rolled in despair as Junghoon and Donghee invited you to take a seat with them. The seat was the same seat you ended up taking for most of the week, with most of your time spent with the boys, especially Heechul who made sure to take you under his wing.
You weren’t quite sure what it was between the two of you that drew you close to each other, but throughout the week, your friendship grew close, quickly, to the point where he arrived at your side as soon as you got to the studio each morning.
“Hi,” he grinned as you passed through the security, holding your arm as you jumped in surprise. “Sorry, I spotted your car pull up when I was walking through the building. Do you want to grab a coffee before things get started?”
“How about a moment to catch my breath?” You teased, calming your heart back down, “but coffee does sound good, the usual place by the second studio?”
“You know me so well. Iced americano? Drop your bags, I’ll order, and you meet me there.”
Your head nodded, impressed that he’d remembered your order already. “I’ll be as quick as I can, I promise,” you called out, racing down to the rehearsal room to get yourself sorted.
The café in the building had been a staple for the two of you since the second day of rehearsals, each morning you sat there, all the way through until the last day of rehearsals. You arrived, as usual, to see Heechul sitting with two iced americanos sat before him.
However, on the last day of rehearsals, you could tell that something wasn’t quite right with him. Heechul barely spoke a word to you, messing with the straw in his drink rather than drinking it, tapping his hand against the table to break the silence that was between you both.
“Can you believe this is the end already,” you whispered, eventually trying to draw a conversation between the two of you. “I won’t get to see you tomorrow for coffee.”
Heechul’s head nodded, parting his lips to speak, only for nothing to come. You continued to stare at him in confusion, slowly breaking him down until he pushed his coffee cup away, raising his hands up almost in defeat.
“I don’t want this to be the last day I get to see you,” he sighed, resting his head into his hands, “I shouldn’t miss not seeing you, but I really feel as if I am.”
“There’s still the show on the weekend,” you tried to assure him, but his head simply shook back at you. “Are you not going to be there? Or am I missing something here?”
He chuckled gently, “I’m going to be there, but what about after the show? I don’t want you to go home and just forget about this week.”
“I could never forget about this week, and you.”
“If that’s true, then stay for a little while longer in Korea, I’ll show you around, you can even stay at my place if you need to. You can finally meet Gibok, I’ve told you enough about him.
Your smile grew, meeting his eyes, “you know, I think I have in fact got a couple of days free after the show, I could stick around, if you’d have me.”
“Really?” He asked in a slight state of disbelief. “I’ll definitely have you, I can sort out my spare room, and we can have a great few days together before you have to go home.”
“That sounds perfect, I’m already looking forward to it.”
“I’ll have an iced americano at my place, with your name on it waiting.”
