Notes: Last night I promised Shelby Merlin/Gwaine fanfic in some form, so I wrote this while at the park.

"I do study, you know," Gwaine muttered. He had pulled his pillow over his head in another mature attempt to avoid doing any type of work on a Saturday.

"I'm not sure why I don't believe you." Merlin smiled, triumphant, and held up Gwaine's chemistry binder. "You want to read through once before I quiz you?"

"If you think I'm incompetent I doubt it would make a difference."

"I'm sensing some hostility." Gwaine threw his pillow across the room and rolled his eyes. Merlin simply ignored him. "Tell you what. For every question I ask that you get right I will reward you with a kiss."

"Well then," Gwaine said. "Now you've got my attention."

He sat up, making room for Merlin to join him. Merlin flipped through the binder until he reached the material on the exam. "We'll start with an easy one. What is a mole?"

"That is easy. A mole is a unit of measurement used to convert between atoms and molecules to grams."

"Don't get too cocky," Merlin warned. He leaned over and pecked Gwaine on the cheek."

"That was not a kiss."

"The more you answer correctly the more the reward."

Gwaine, much to his surprise, knew the material. Merlin had been right; he just had to apply himself. Rather, he had needed some incentive. Now twenty minutes later Gwaine had Merlin pinned down, working on leaving a raspberry coloured mark on his collarbone.

"Do I pass?" Gwaine asked.

Merlin laughed. "I give you an A."

I don't actually see them being into it in most close-to-canon interpretations, but it's one of my favourite kinks to read for the pairing! I suppose Reid probably never called his father "daddy", so it might reduce the weirdness...
