Heizyato peak btwww, I should put this on my Rarepair blog but idccc ^^
They’re honestly very silly to me, I love a hypothetical dynamic between the two and the fact they likely aren’t too open about their relationship it’s the sorta forbidden aspect I guess but even then I just love how similar they are in someways and different in other ways. They both have rather sadistic tendencies (as my moot @chenyuvale reminded me) plus how they both like getting reactions out of others, I also like how different they view their work, Heizou as more of an opportunity and Ayato as more of a tiresome practice.. I just like them a lot.. yeah…
I believe their dynamic would likely be more distrustful at first, Heizou’s intuition thinking Ayato is hiding things (which he is) and likely trying to question him about it when in public, at least subtly. Ayato believing the Tenryou Commision simply sent Heizou to bother him on his few public appearances, a bit confused as to what they want by the detectives questioning.
Heizou thinking Ayato is intentionally dodging his questioning, leading to further distrust and more time occupied simply thinking of the man and what he could be up to. When asking Sara if she knew anything she simply shook her head before continuing on how odd it was for him to even ask her about it considering he rarely wants to do the work she already gives him let alone take her input. He simply brushed it off as simple curiosity before quickly leaving. He still occasionally tries to question Ayato further about his suspicions rather annoying the latter due to him not wanting to deal with work related issues the few breaks he got off, or on his way to his other areas of work. Noticing him especially around the Grand Narukami shrine.. for some reason, though he’s suspected someone Heizou may knew allowed him by during these meetings.
Though later along the line as Heizou is still investigating the man, outside of his other cases of course (he still need to deal with those criminals first), he finds himself getting somewhat fond of the man.. much to his dissatisfaction. He shouldn’t be feeling such a way about someone he is investigating, especially someone he thinks could be doing something nefarious. But as it went on he started to somewhat doubt his initial disposition to how Ayato was, which didn’t happen most of the time. Especially since he was rather correct a majority of the times.. it was all just frustrating. Ayato on the other hand finding out eventually that this wasn’t an idea from the Tenryou Committee, so this man had no other real reason to talk to him much, rather odd if you ask him. Most people just wanted things from him, the detective on the other hand, while still questioning him about things, it was less about what he could do for him and what Ayato had already done. Even seemingly more personal as of recent, the detective somewhat slipping in small questions about the foods Ayato enjoyed, what he enjoyed doing in his free time (though he didn’t have much overall), even the types of flowers he enjoyed. Which was again surprising, as it wasn’t something he was used to people asking, Thoma did when he first came to Inazuma of course but even then it was likely him being friendly. What did the detective want from him exactly?
I feel like Heizou was the first to actually do things for Ayato, at least from someone who wasn’t a business partner or housekeeper of course. Bringing him food, the milk tea he enjoyed all those little things whenever he came to question him further. Convincing, himself more than anyone else, it would help his interrogation process. And honestly he was starting to warm up to Kamissto clan member, though he didn’t talk much it was always somewhat nice in a way. He could simply be talking about weather and Heizou could find something… something to make his heart skip, even the smallest bit. Ayato actually grew to somewhat appreciate the discussions they would have, it was something different at the very least, and again the man seemed rather genuine to him compared to those he worked with. And it was a bit hard to gain a true reaction out of him, Ayato appreciated the challenge and it made it all the more better when the detective had a somewhat embarrassed or even perturbed look on his face. Whenever he questioned further for the expressions Heizou brushed it off as something that would embarrass any guy if you told him outta the blue. Eventually they got on the topic of calligraphy, Heizou mainly complaining about the reports he had to write after cases. When he learned Ayato had some enjoyment for such things he decided to “buy him” (aka. Take one he got from work and give it to Ayato) another quill on his birthday, simply shoving it his hand before continuing on his way to his recent case. Though it was obvious Heizou stole the quill pen from the Tenryou commission the thought was still there. He wasn’t even trying to get anything out of him, did the man simply, enjoy his company or was it something else? The next time Heizou visited him during a break the two shared he questioned the detective on his intent, why was he taking the time out of his time if this wasn’t work related, he wasn’t family, he wasn’t a housekeeper and on top of that he worked with the Tenryou commission whom they didn’t always see eye to eye with. What did he have to gain? Honestly Heizou couldn’t answer for a while, it was out of the blue for one and two he’d honestly forgotten the initial reason for his suspicions. Actually he had stopped those a bit ago, there really wasn’t a true reason for him and Ayato to see each other often at all. But for some reason it felt a bit bad not to see him sometimes, he’d been thinking of the man more and more and it was unbearable. He obviously couldn’t like the man.. at least he doesn’t think he could, I mean the idea never really came to him he could’ve like the Kamisato man in that way.. and he honestly shouldn’t right.. I mean the other man obviously couldn’t have any woman he wanted why would he settle for a detective like himself. He was rather quiet while thinking so Ayato decided to break the silence first saying that he didn’t really mind their meetups all things considered, he.. appreciated the other man and his company especially due to his busy schedule most of the time, he wouldn’t even mind if they did it more often. Heizou quickly broke out of his train of thought to simply look at the man sitting next to him, gently taking his hand, more out of reflex than anything else, and quickly confirming that he didn’t *mind* seeing the man every so often. Ayato could tell he seemed to mind a lot though, it was honestly cute how the detective tried to play it off. With that thought something else somewhat rose from the back of his mind as he gently raised the others hand to lay a gentle kiss on the other man’s knuckles. Stating “Then I hope we have more encounters such as this, I wouldn’t mind getting to know you better as well.” Before getting up himself with a quick goodbye. Leaving Heizou there in shock for a bit. Surely he didn’t mean he actually *felt* a certain way about Heizou.. did he truly? He did later receive confirmation on the fact that Ayato did like him, which was still a bit surprising…
