      he hates her question and he hates even more that he can't answer it. instead wolf just watches her and takes a sip from his drink. the environment wasn't a place he wanted to discuss this situation but he knew that she was leaving him no choice ––– none at all. sighing, he leans forward. ❝ what do you want me to say? –– what am i supposed to say? ❞

        it isn’t the first time he has found her like this. she bears so much on her shoulders, they are alike in that way. but she wasn’t TRAINED for it, she wasn’t born to it. she was just forced into a world of responsibilities. and is shows, it catches up with her and he wishes he could take away her pain. but he can’t. all he can do is be there for her, try to HELP her through it, try to make sure she knows she isn’t ALONE. because he knows what it is to feel one is drowning in a world all to themselves. he won’t let her endure such a thing.

      it’s shocking even to him that his mind manages to wake him up at this ungodly hour. though his usual procedure is to retreat to the balcony for a cigarette, beckett feels far too comfortable with his body situated against the others’. though it takes about thirty minutes of tossing and turning to realize he’s going to have to tire himself out one way or another. he glances over at his sleeping girlfriend, the sight alone bringing a small smirk to his lips. she’d been his rock through everything, he knew it was going to take ages to even begin to make it up to her. his hand is slipping beneath the cover to gently graze against her side, lifting up the fabric of his t-shirt that she’d worn to bed earlier in the night. he’d been feeling... frustrated, in more ways than one, and truthfully he missed being with nat like this. he missed touching her, holding her. his mind was more finicky with what he was in the mood for and when, so surely they could both see the effects it’s taken on more than just their everyday life. he’s shifting carefully beneath the covers completely, lips pressing featherlight kisses against the flat of her stomach. he’s hoping that alone is enough to slowly rouse her from her sleep, and hopefully lessen his chances of making her mad. thin digits are hooking onto the waistband of her bottoms before he’s tugging them down gently, just enough to expose the prominent bone in her hips. beckett is then placing a trail of kisses along her hip, gaze flicking upward every few seconds to watch her face. he felt selfish for initiating this so late in the night, but he only hopes nat doesn’t see it that way.
