Devotional to Hel, ii

I know you-- The voice echoes, two sources speaking the same words that leap off the edges of the chasm, whispering with the fall of melting snow into the gaping maw that separates One from Other.

I know you, Queen of Silence, because, like you, I was born with the Crone in my heart, already ancient from the womb, wizened eyes staring out at a world incomprehensible because of its familiarity, the sinking sensation that we’ve been here before.

Much ado is made of the cycles we walk, Maiden, Mother, Crone-- but there are outliers, hiding in the wings-- and what then?

What of us, world-weary and filled with sardonic laughter, kind hearts unmoved by suffering we’ve seen all too often before?

You took your lot and built an empire, regardless of the way it was given. You tend the ones who no longer have a voice, but You move for no one and nothing. Harsh and unyielding as eternal winter-- but soft and gentle as new-fallen snow.

Your wisdom is not one often sought, Your domain so often cursed by mortal tongues that cannot understand, still lost in their tender years, playing with the green leaves that You know, all too well, will soon turn ashen and drop, dry as tinder.

But only You, too, know that endings are also new beginnings, and that all change requires growing pains, the suffering fertile soil for something only the Crone has eyes to see-- though perhaps she will never fully experience it.

She plans. She waits. She knows. In her shadow, I watch, hoping to glean some comfort from that far-seeing gaze-- but I, too, am unable to see the seeds of the forest beyond the fallen limbs and curling leaves, broken in the storm, for I am only mortal, after all.

I've recently been feeling very called to working with Hel, and while I understand this blog focuses on Loki, I was wondering if you knew of any tumblr blogs similar to this one that may be able to help me get a good idea of where to start in terms of research. I don't know of any specifically informational blogs devoted to her, but queenofswords has a good Hel info page, along with a list of other Hel devotees-- it's possible some of those links may be inactive due to people deactivating over the years, but there should still be some good follows and info to start with. There's also a hel* tag on this page that has some good basic informational posts and suggestions for places to start, and of course, folks are more than welcome to add to this post if they have anything, so feel free to check the notes as well.

Things I offer to Hel
