Monte Bianco
V° team building Gruppo Mollo. 15 -16 giugno 2019. Ecco il gruppo dei nostri coraggiosi collaboratori, che hanno raggiunto, sul massiccio del Monte Bianco, Punta Helbronner a 3.462 m.
Last year with @mikedunningofficial and @mtoeldte we were scoping new lines to speedride in Courmayeur...this is my first attempt to the beautiful Canale del Cesso just under the Torino Hut in punta Helbronner!! 🏔 @swingparagliders @factionskis #mirageRSpro ##swingspeedflyingteam #mirageRS #Speedriding #speedflying #canaledelcesso @courmayeurmontblanc @skywaymontebianco @courmayeur #rifugiotorino #rifugiotorinovecchio #helbronner #puntahelbronner #adrenaline #fun #GT Getting ready for @naturalgamesavoriaz (at Rifugio Torino)
Dent du Géant We camped over night and carried lots of water and food in with us. It was such a short walk from the hut to camp it wasn't a problem. We bumped into stu McDonald in the Torino refuge who filled our bellies with beer and red wine! We staggered back to our tent and woke up around 7am the next day. We munched our breakfast from inside our sleeping bags and then realised we had better get a move on as there were about 13 teams heading up to the climb that morning from the hut alone. The walk in was much easier than I remember it to be from last time, I must be better at scrambling about on loose scree! The crevasse and bergshund were a bit thin to cross even though it had snowed just two days before, a whole winter of crap snow has left all of the alpine routes and their approaches looking pretty dry. Once we got to the bottom of the route ready to go, we had a queue of people in front of us and behind us. It was like a traffic jam! The first pitch had a thin rope to pull on which felt a bit tricky with my gloves on as I couldn't get any grip and my hands were too cold to take the gloves off as I had been standing around in the shade waiting for so long! I led the second pitch which was actual climbing (no ropes) and placed some gear and it felt quite steady and enjoyable climbing in big boots. The pitches then up to the first summit were much of the same, nice adventurous positions, pulling on a thick white rope to get up the pitch!! The traverse over to the second summit was a little exciting when you have to step down and your feet are dangling trying to find the ground. And the final climb up the summit is nice as you know no one else is at he top except you and a madonna. We had a quick rap down on the newly bolted abseils using our 50m rope and then on reaching the bottom had to make a dash to our tent to pack it up and make it back to the panoramic in time before last lift back to the midi at 4pm. Classic climb which I am glad I have done just because it's such a spectacular piece of rock that sticks out and you can see from a far. But not a climb I will rush back to do.
