thinking about this line from the huntress/nightwing 1998 crossover because i think it reflects a lot about dick's relationships of the era

because BEYOND the context it ties in to his other relationships of the time specifically with helena and babs where he is chasing for THEIR attention (and by extension affection and acceptance and praise) (which i think is the the part that feels "familiar" to him as babs says -- that is what he's used to, historically . with bruce) whereas for kory she was pursuing HIS attention and he wasn't used to it and leads to him actively running AWAY (considering kory is like. THE anti-bruce (like with her personality being that she's open and loving and also the nature of her relationship with dick where she is the one chasing his attention and her symbolism being the sun/light/warmth and just how important freedom is to her compared to how he will never let himself go and even her moral stance on (mercy) killing etc etc) just contrast so much) especially compared to helena and babs who are so constantly compared to bruce (as either a compliment or insult)) and anyway i feel like this line from babs reflects on his reaction to attention (or a lack of it) so interestingly
