the first that comes to mind is the whole tomato being a fruit vs a vegetable argument, when in reality it is both. from a botany perspective it is a fruit but vegetable is not a scientific term, it’s a culinary one, therefore a tomato can be a vegetable as well 🍅
🦫: hardest class you’ve taken?
probably either my ecology class or orgo! i loved ecology because it pushed me to further my understanding of biological systems and i hated orgo because despite the material being decent the prof was terrible and would purposefully make bad exams to punish the students

🐝: most surprising thing you’ve learnt in your studies?
hmmm probably the way that some fish are closer in relation to humans than to other fish and that the word “fish” encompasses the flimsiest card deck of species that are only distantly related
oh and learning than essentially everything alive is made of millions of types of proteins blew my little baby biologist mind in first year
