oc asks! ghost, heartbreak, and skin?

ghost: Who or what haunts your OC? What happened? How do they live with their ghosts?

Helios-33 Helios was very close friends with Cayde before his death, and Cayde dying and the whole Forsaken campaign was incredibly painful and hard for Helios. He held so much anger and grief that he didn’t know where to put it, and revenge fixed nothing, it was an empty salve on a broken open ribcage. Helios carried that grief with him, in the form of mostly anger, and it led him to places he’d rather forget he ever went. 

Helios is mainly an arc titan, but through many talks and meditation sessions and seeking help in his friends and environment, he learns how to harness Solar Light, to honor his lost friend. 

It’s a while after that before Helios is haunted by the ghost of Cayde-6 again. It happens for a bit during that season with the red phantoms on the moon. 

And honestly in a way, he’s learning how to live with his ghosts bc of the whole Crow thing. Helios feels bad about what happened, what he did to Uldren, but mainly bc in the end it wasn’t a proper fight. Should he not have gotten revenge like that? Maybe. But he can’t change the past, he prefers to keep his eyes forward nowadays, with a friend like Crow by his side.

heartbreak: Have they ever had a relationship that ended badly? Experienced some other kind of heartbreak? What happened?

Sa’id Sa’id is my awoken Hunter. He’s had some not great ending romantic relationships in the past, but his biggest heartbreak was the loss of his fireteam. Back in the day, he and two other void hunters were a tight fireteam, the closest bond he’d ever had. In my headcanon, Sa’id’s fireteam was one of the fireteams that went down beneath the Arcology on Titan (yknow the strike back in the day, where Guardians were turned into Hive Crystals. that one.) And Sa’id is the sole survivor of his fireteam, watching the two people he’s closest to get stripped of everything that makes them them, and nearly getting his own Light fully taken away then n there as well. It’s incredibly tragic, and Sa’id’s entire personality changes after the heartbreak and the loss of his friends, his fireteam. Where he used to be a jovial little shit, ye olde stereotypical cocky Hunter, he mellows out a lot. There’s a lingering dread to him, a void (hah ironic) that can never be filled again. Sa’id never touches Void Light again after that encounter, and becomes a purely Solar user. 

skin: How comfortable is your OC in their skin? Do they grapple with anything that lives inside them—a beast, a curse, a failure, a monster? How do they face the smallest, weakest, most horrible version of themself? Are they able to acknowledge it at all?

Cedahn Cedahn is originally a dragon age oc that I’ve just kind of taken out of his original context and plopped into various other universes bc i like him :> His main Thing as a character is that he has deep rooted anger issues that he can not control, there’s a certain bloodlust that overcomes him in a fight, a frenzy that makes him go berserk. He’s incredibly ashamed of this part of himself, however useful it can be in a fight, he hates that he is like this. He strives to always be kind, lead with grace and kindness, he tries so very hard to be good, and yet he can not deny the nature of who he becomes when push comes to shove. 

He tries his best to hide this part of himself, ‘ignore it long enough and it wont be an issue anymore, surely’ type of thinking. This, of course, never works out but yknow. A man can hope.

30, 34, & 35 for your guardians? 👀

30 do they smell like anything notable?

Helios-33 probably has a vague smell of how the air smells when a thunderstorm is approaching. His hands specifically smell a little of gun oil, courtesy of beloved husband Banshee-44.

Cerul-7 smells like lemon. Depending on if he last used Solar or Void, there’s hints of how sunsoaked skin smells, or a vast deep almost dry smell. Very rarely can you catch the hint of a cold and wet smell, but it still lurks sometimes…

Thalu-5 smells like red berries. Cherries and strawberries and that typical red forest fruits scent. Very fruity and bright.

Besides my main three there’s a couple that have notable smells, like Nico-10 who always smells like he just got done hugging every tree in a forest, or Neyrha who has a very earthy and bonfire-y smell to her. Bb-7 who smells like his mint shower soap, Dew-0 who smells of petrichor.

34 how would your character describe themselves? it doesn't have to line up with how they really are.

Helios: “Big tall red titan.”

He doesnt use many words when he doesnt need to, and doesnt find his kind and protective nature something worth mentioning.

Cerul: “Nothing too special. I’m a scholar and a teacher. I’ve published much of my research and try to help New Lights be curious about their surroundings.”

Insecure and not very self-confident when it’s just about him, so he would use his professional work as descriptors. ‘Look at what I’ve done, maybe you will find worth in that’ kinda deal. He’s a very sweet and kind person, and quite a skilled guardian.

Thalu: “[with laughter in her voice] I’m just me.”

For a guardian she’s still young, very energetic and playful. However she sometimes overdoes the playful attitude, to fool people so they dont catch on to her more serious situations in her life.

Neyrha: “Who’s asking? And if you’re so curious, why don’t you come find out for yourself.”

Cagey and self-protective, cocky and never backs down from a challenge. Likes to have the upper hand. In relationships, in sex, in conversations.

Cedahn: “[Little bit self deprecating laugh, and a warm smile] A titan with anger issues. I’m working on it.”

Deeply honest.

Nico-10: would just kinda shrug, “I try to help everyone I meet. Does that count?”

Again a very self conscious person, but still truthful.

Sa’id: “Tired.”

There’s more to meets the eye with Sa’id, but he is a chronic insomniac, so that would be the first thing he thinks of to say.

Bb-7: [silently motions to himself, as if that is an answer enough]

Doesnt speak if not needed. Man of actions over words. Also a very private person, so this is what you’ll get.

Dew-0: “Cocky bastard who wants to be worshipped. Rightfully so, I might add.”

Dark ages mfer. Basard supreme. Has a heart in there somewhere, but its underneath several thick layers of self preservation.

35 do they ever return home?

Man thats a fun question for Guardians.

Helios does, he’s been sticking to home a lot, or when he leaves, he always comes back quickly. (Home is earth, The City, Banshee.)

Cerul has finally found his home, and he never leaves him. (His home is Kirin-3, @/wintersguile’s oc)

Thalu has never felt like she had a home to return to. She’s trying to find home in the people she loves, in her little family.

i know the dawning is over but im having thinky thoughts abt what my little fellas' type of cookies would be…

i think Helios would have a very warm flavor thingy. Maybe something with apple and cinnamon? Tried n true and classic and oftentimes, very sweet and comforting.

Thalu's would be smth with red berries, a type of sweet that leaves your fingers stained deep purple bc its a little messy to eat

Cerul has a fancy type of baked good. Mille-feuille with a lemon vanilla pudding.

Nico's would be Luikse wafels or speculoos

Bb would maybe have a very simple cookie, like a chocolate chip, with milk and dark chocolate...

Neyrha would be a special flavor combination, something spicy and refreshing, maybe with some mint? Finished off with some powdered sugar

Cedahn would have cream puffs, with a hint of spice in the pastry cream.

Sa'id might be a milkshake? A mix between two flavors, one classic and one newer maybe

Seyla's would be little gingerbread cookies, very cute

Dew would be something more savory than sweet, something that takes a while to make? With typical winter-associated spices
