I wanna recommend my manga to people so bad but I'm scared I'll sound a certain type of way 😭
Writing villainous characters that are not necessarily the big bad™ in a story can be tricky, especially when writing dialogue, but people making antagonists overly mean just makes me annoyed of their presence, not making me hate them
^ This is basically my philosophy when writing Daisy's older brother, Travis, in Hell Heavenly.
A friend of mine, who often gives me feedback on my manga, told me that he hated Travis from his very first appearance, for the fact that he seemed needlessly antagonistic towards actual children, only go immediately cave when someone adult and of higher authority showed up. His comments towards Basia are also not overly comical, but actual insults I have seen thrown at women solely for their gender, i.e. him telling Basia that she's too emotional to handle certain things/situations simply because she's a girl.
The point of this post is, for me to hate a villain/antagonist, don't make them overly comical (unless it is a comedy, but I'm referring to more serious shows). Make them toned down just enough, make their comments towards lthers demeaning, make them manipulative, make them smart enough to be able to disguise those insults under criticism coming from one of higher authority. Just don't make them swear constantly and try to make them QuiRKy!!
Unfortunately, the dilf consumes my thoughts
Sorry Draven, I made your dad too fine
I just really like how I shaded this panel
Is there something you want to confess?
