Giuseppe "Peppino" Spaghetti
(CW: mentions of war and PTSD)
Giuseppe, better known as Peppino to his close friends, is a man in his 40s, recognizable for his fat yet strong looking physique, black spiky hair (although they're missing in the upper part of his head) and a long nose decorated with small moustaches, wearing a short white dress, with a black t-shirt and leggings underneath, a red ribbon belt, brown sandals and a pair of golden armlets. As an Angel, he also has a pair of white and pastel red wings and a halo.
Peppino used to be a soldier before he died, sadly passing away in his early 20s because of an enemy bullet perforating straight at his heart while he was in a war with his friend Gustavo. It was a slow and incredibly painful death. To his fortune (and because he was an overall alright person when he was alive) he ended up in Heaven and became an Angel of Diligence, where he would relax, spend time with Gus and sometimes go visit Earth to see how his family has been doing since his death.
On the surface he can seem like a hot-blooded man prone to fall into wrath, which is half true because of some problems of anger (he always had the habit of bottling up his negative emotions) and anxiety (triggered by his PTSD from his war times), but in nature he's a really nice guy to have around and eager to help those in need of help. His more anxious and aggressive behaviour can be seen when he got ordered to climb the Hell Tower, driven by his fear of disappearing into oblivion if he failed at stopping Lucifer from destroying Heaven and start the Apocalypse. He would've been capable of uprooting the whole tower from the ground if he was even a little more angrier than he was during his final battle.
After he destroyed the Tower, along with Gustavo and his new friend Brick, he got greatly praised for his accomplishment and decided to go through a special training to become an Archangel in hope to get past all the stressfull events he lived. With that he goes through some noticeable changes: he earns a second pair of wings, his halo is bigger and shining more brightly, he's wearing a white and red long dress with an asymmetric neckline (which exposes most of his upper body and occasionally his legs through the slit), a double pair of golden bracelets on his wrists and ankles, and his hair became softer. Even his behaviour and usual facial expressions changed from grumpy and occasionally anxious to more relaxed, kinder and docile with everyone, almost as if he became a completely different man... As long as no one mentions the Hell Tower or meets any of the Demons that were in there at least. Especially that one yellow Greed Imp.
Gustavo Rigatoni
(CW: mentions of war)
Gustavo is a small man (his head reaches Peppino's belly) in his 40s with a chubby physique, short brown hair and a big nose with a nice moustache. He wears a white suit with a brown t-shirt underneath, a pastel green ribbon belt, brown sandals and a pair of golden armlets. Like Peppino, he also has a pair of wings and a halo, except they're green coloured.
Before he died he used to work in the army as an apprendist combat medic in his 20s, where he first met Peppino and bonded with him. He passed away because of an enemy bomb being dropped in his area, he didn't notice it nor even registered the pain when it happened. To him he just randomly passed out and woke up in the Limbo, for then reuniting with his best friend in Heaven.
Gustavo is a very kind person, a humble and reliable friend to have, although most of the time he tends to stay too much in his world and sometimes he wouldn't notice when someone is actually in trouble. He even goes as far as accompanying Peppino in his climb in the Hell Tower. Even though he's not as skilled in battle as Pep is and couldn't help much, he managed to tame a cerberus that was guarding the place.
After the destruction of the tower and came back to Heaven, many people in there were surprised to see a cerberus stepping in this heavenly place, as it never happened before. After some discussions with the Powers (powerful Angels that have most control over Heaven's rules) they agreed to allow Brick to stay in Heaven as long as Gustavo will be able educate her and not create problems for the inhabitants of Heaven. After all that Gus decided to partecipate in the same speacial training as Peppino and goes through his same changes: second pair of wings, bigger halo, softer hair, bracelets on wrists and ankles, and a long dress (with the difference that his neckline looks more like a kimono). Now he spends most of his time taking care of Brick and other heavenborn animals (kirins, doves, lumicats, etc.).
Brick
Brick is a cerberus, a three headed dog, that looks like a gray-haired pitbull who's taller than Gustavo, wearing a collar with her name on the small medallion.
Her job was to guard one of the floors of the Hell Tower, running after Gustavo while Peppino was busy collecting stars in various stages. After a good while of cat and mouse chasing, Gustavo manages to calm down Brick with some head pats (poor girl never really had physical affection before) and gain her sympathy, becoming his partner and support Peppino whenever he's in trouble (although Pep wasn't very calm with the idea of a hellborn working with him). After the destruction of the tower, Brick got very attached to Gustavo and wanted to stay with him in Heaven. As mentioned before, there was a discussion with the Powers and they agreed to allow Brick to stay as long as she behaves.
Brick can be described as a very joyful, playful yet destructive dog. She runs after anything that moves, eats anything she can with the same voracity of a piranha, and any toy gifted to this cerberus becomes a pile of ruined cotton and rubber under 10 minutes or so. Not that she does all that on purpose, she doesn't mean to upset any human, especially Gustavo, but it's undeniable that she's an animal full of energy and that she needs an evironment suitable for her and a proper training to at least do the minimum required by the Powers. And Brick will do her best on trying to be a good, well manered dog for her owner. Emphasis on the word "trying".
Weasely "Mr. Stick"
Weasely, humourously nicknamed "Mr Stick" by many Angels in Heaven, is a tall and thin man seemingly in his 50s who wears a white and orange sleeveless long dress, has a large nose and a balding head with a big orange halo above him, a double pair of white and orange wings, and wears a pair of glasses and golden bracelets.
When he used to be alive he was a greedy salesman who often scammed other people by promising of selling gorgeous mansions at a high prize to guillable people, when in reality they're shallow and battered looking houses. He died at 80 and, by his and everyone else's surprise (including the readers), ended up in Heaven because one time he gave money to a homeless person out of pity. Scared at the idea that one more greedy act will put him out of Heaven and drag him in a dark, smelly pit full of filthy and dangerous creatures, Stick decided to actuallly become better and abandon his obsession with money. And he actually did become better, more or less. Nowdays he's known as the Archangel of Order, where his jobs are to go every day in the Limbo, along with his partner Burton, to count how many people died and which ones went to Heaven or Hell, and to handle the Stars. He can be very grumpy with others most of the time, but there are rare moments where he can show little acts of kindness.
He reluctantly helps Peppino in the Hell Tower ("reluctantly" because he didn't want to meddle with demon's stuff but had to because it was ordered by his superiors) by using the Stars' powers to open the portals to the bosses in each floor, although he's not strong enough to help Pep in defeating Demons.
Burton Mastiff
Burton is a man seemingly in his 60s, he's taller than Mr Stick, has a fat body covered from neck to ankles of thick blue imp fur, a face that, ironically, resembles that of a mastiff, pointy ears, hands and toes that look more like claws with three fingers each, a pair of dark blue horns slightly curved to the outside and a long tail with the tip resembling a sting.
He used to work with Mr Stick with the salesman business, although he mostly did nothing most of the time. He would sleep at the workplace and hardly lend a hand to his partner, sometimes he would even skip work days to simply stay in the comfort of his house or have calm walks in a park. He dies shortly after Stick and, because of his lazy and inactive nature, ends up in Hell and becomes a Sloth Imp.
Burton is a calm, lazy and very passive person, someone who values relaxing instead of stressing too much and straining himself... a little too much. He hardly lifts a finger for anything, even for important stuff or just helping others, making him seem like a selfish and careless person despite his kind appearence. But despite those flaws, Stick still somehow cared for him and kept him around (both because he felt pity and also, as much as he was a little ashamed to admit it, felt something intimate for him), even if he doesn't do anything at work. Burton was a little surprised by his collegue's efforts, even when he became an Imp and was offered to accompany him in the Limbo to count the arriving souls. Who knows, maybe someday Burton will be able to somehow better his attitude and make amends for his sins bit by bit.
The Stars
Stars are, well, star shaped beings that have each a different different colour from one another. They're souls of various babies and animals, pure and naive beings that love playing with pretty much anyone they meet. They can also be very curious and tend to explore places too dangerous for them, like the Hell Tower, where a bunch of them somehow managed to sneak in without any of the Demons living in it noticing. They're necessary for Peppino to gather and give them to Mr. Stick so that he can have enough energy to open the portals to the bosses.
Gerome
It's a Golem, a small being made entirely of dark pink stones, recognizable for his large nose with a rock resembling moustaches and a red philosopher's stone on the top of his head.
He's stoic and doesn't seem very enthusiastic with his job and others, you can see him clean some of the areas inside of the Hell Tower with a mop, as ordered by Lucifer. Peppino would meet him occasionally while collecting stars for Mr Stick and hear him muttering something about a certain John, his supposed best friend that he's trapped inside the tower... or in multiple places inside it? And that he IS the tower? What did he mean by that?
John
Another Golem, just like Gerome, but he's bigger in stature with arms big enough to lift at least 5 men with one hand, and has two red philosopher's stones, one on his chest and the other on his left shoulder. At least this is how he looks like normally.
He used to work with Gerome as servants for the Seven Deadly Sins in their castle, until one day Lucifer had the sick idea to experiment with the philosopher's stones that keep Golems alive, by giving him more of them and shaping him to be a big living tower with lots of rooms and obstacles in it. For John, with his conscience divided inside of multiple wonky and cracked looking pillars, was incredibly painful because of the high number of philosopher's stones, this much energy absorbed in his modified body was not good for him and the only way to stop the pain was to kill him by destroying every single pillar that sustains the tower. It's cruel, even for our Peppino, but it had to be done.
But after Lucifer was defeated and the tower got destroyed, thanks to Peppino who helped Gerome to reunite John's original body parts, he revives in his original form and knocks out Lucifer, all battered and too weak to fight back after the final battle with Peppino. Now he lives in the streets in Hell with Gerome, as far away from the Hell Castle and the Deadly Sins as possible, still trying to find a new master to serve. Someone who doesn't try to do weird and painful experiments on them, possibly.
Pravus/The Fruit of Knowledge
Pravus is a bright green snake with shades of red on his tail and scales on his head, yellow sclera in his eyes and pointy white teeth, sometimes wearing two golden necklaces, a choker one and a thinner one with a small pendant.
He's the first snake ever made on Earth, the only creation Lucifer is proud of and also his only trusted friend. Pravus was there when his master was punished and fell from heaven, whenever he was upset and needed someone to vent to. And as time went on, by continuously eating the Fruits of Knowledge, his favourite food, he becomes more and more intelligent, to the point of gaining the ability of speaking and possess any inanimate objects he enters inside. And, unsurprisingly enough, the object he always possesses is a Fruit of Knowledge, the bigger ones Lucifer grows in his own personal garden in the Hell Castle, taking the aspect of a gigantic red apple with a hole from which the snake can sneak out whenever he wants, a face, horns, arms and legs wearing white gloves and shoes.
Pravus can be pretty much described as the personification of the word "arrogance", just like his master he's full of himself and narcisistic, convinced he's the greatest and most powerful animal on Earth just because he gained human intelligence. Needless to say that the only person he cares about is Lucifer, although he rarely helped him in his master's plans of destroying Heaven. That time Peppino climbed the Hell Tower was actually the first time Pravus has ever faced an Angel, only to be defeated in an embarassing way. He refuses to acknowledge that ever happened when asked what happened in the tower.
Ignis
Ignis is a blob of lava with black eyes and wrinkles, wearing brown fingerless gloves and a brown and golden viking helm.
Born in hell, Ignis is one of the many Lava Spirits that inhabits this demonic hole, but also one of the few working as a guard in the Hell Castle, home of the infamous Deadly Sins, following his grandfather's footsteps. He's one of the most skilled guards there, capable of making great jumps and shoot lava bullets from his fingertips with incredible precision. Because of this he often gets called with the nickname "Vigilante".
He has a very cold personality (even though his consistence is anything but cold), he rarely talks and takes his guard job very seriously, no demon thief who managed to infiltrate in the castle wasn't able to escape from his grasp and burning bullets. When he got ordered by Lucifer to go to the Hell Tower to protect one of the floors, he actually got to meet someone who actually put him in difficulty there: Peppino. It didn't help the fact that this Angel was incredibly fast on foot and capable of handling firearms, but what actually defeated him was Peppino's edging nerves with what he's facing in this Tower and also his repressed wrath that seemed to explode at any moment. He found it impressive. But also scary.
Theodore "The Noise"
(CW: mention of death by overdose)
Theodore is a man apparently his 30s as tall as Gustavo but with a skinnier physique, has a large nose, a pointy bucktooth, wears a mask made of his own Imp fur with two long twirling hairlocks on the sides that makes them look like moustaches and a suit made out of animal skin. As an Imp he also has claws as hands and toes, a pair of dark yellow horns and crow-like wings, yellow fur that covers his forearms and ankles, pointy ears and a tail with the tip resembling a claw.
He used to be a TV star, the mascot of his own show where he would prank random people on the streets and even interview famous ones sometimes, alongside his girlfriend Hazel. But just like almost every TV celebrity ever existed, it comes with two bad things: becoming so greedy to the point of making controversial choices in order to gain more money and keep his show running (like sponsoring products from a company notorious for abusing their workers), and his mental health worsening because of his job and personal life. Because of the latter, he would regularly take antidepressants until one night Theo accidentally took too many of them at once, causing his lungs to malfunction and dying of lack of air.
He ends up in Hell, becoming a Greed Imp. Theo attempted to perform again there to relive his old days, but in vain, mostly because of his decreased popularity and incapability of mantaining his charisma. So, he spends most of his time harassing other demons or even pickpocketing them with his Greed demon abilities. Thankfully he gets better mentally when he reunites with Hazel, but at that point he finds stealing more intriguing than performing.
Theo can be described as a rude and insane person, constantly pulling everyone's nerves just for to see their reactions, but in reality he's a tired pathetic man who strives to feel the thrill of life again. He constantly impersonates his persona "The Noise" in public and shows his true self only with his girlfriend Hazel, the only person he trusts to open up to. At one point he gets recruited by Lucifer himself to guard one of Hell Tower's floors, where he would meet Peppino and start a one sided rivalry with him. And ultimatly becoming our Angel's least favourite person ever.
Hazel "Noisette"
(CW: mentions of sexual activities and prostitution)
Hazel is a small woman apparently in her 30s as tall as Theodore, has a skinny physique, a large nose and a tooth gap, wearing a brown strapless corset teddy with a transparent pink skirt and a mask made of her own Imp fur (just like her boyfriend) that half covers her curly black hair. As an Imp she also has claws as hands and toes, a pair of dark pink horns, pink fur that covers her forearms and thighs, pointy ears and a tail with the tip resembling a heart.
Hazel is Theodore's girlfriend (even before they both went to Hell), she was very close to him, had her own Cafe and would occasionally appear in his boyfriend's show as "Noisette", although she wouldn't do much in it. She was very aware of Theo's struggling mental health around that time and would do her best to support him in any way she can (to which Theo was grateful for that). But unfortunately she was also the first one to find out Theo's death by drug overdose, his corpse laying lifeless on the floor of the bathroom. It's the most horrible memory she has from when she was alive. Hazel couldn't get over such a traumatic moment, and it had repercussions on her working life as she struggled to keep her Café afloat. One day she found a some kind of nightclub hidden in a street near to where the Cafe is, to which the waitresses would give "special treatments" to some male costumers.
Hazel is not stupid, her rational side perfectly knew she shouldn't do that. Not right after losing her boyfriend. But her emotional side, fragile for all the horrible things that happened recently, was sick of feeling hollow inside, she must find a way to feel alive again, to fill that hole inside her in any way. Hazel gave in to her lust, entered in that nightclub and began her secondary job there. For then getting killed 5 years later by ingering poison mixed in her drink, being poured unknowingly from her by a client she was serving. Hazel dies and ends up in Hell as a Lust Imp, as consequence for choosing to sell her body for sexual gratification over healing properly. She reunites with Theo, both to her joy but also shame when she had to explain why she became a Lust demon and what she did since Theo's death. Theo was... somewhat understanding of why Hazel did what she did, she was in a dark place and obviously she didn't know that he was still "alive" under form of a demon. Hazel wants to start all over with Theo, she missed him so much and promises that she'll never sleep with other men (and women) ever again. Theo, who also missed Hazel after being alone for around 5 years, accepts and they become a couple again.
Hazel is a cheerful, carefree and quirky woman, despite the painful past she had when she was human. She also has a long tongue (both metaforically and literally), talking about the latest news, random curiosities she heard around and even about her sexual life with Theo, the latter explained with much nonchalance. Speaking of Theo, she still loves him very much, she's loyal and would make sure to spend much time with him. She's very attached to him. Maybe a little too much.
Nameless
Nameless is a being made entirely of clay and wax that looks like Peppino... More or less. They're a lot taller and their physique, although they have a bit of belly, is slimmer, their clothes and accessories (except for the "halo" they treasure so much) are seemingly part of their skin, to which it constantly looks like it's melting, especially with their left eye. Their wings look weird and they also have little horns, pointy ears and a tail, the latter without a shape on the tip unlike other demons in Hell.
They were created by Lucifer with Peppino's feathers snatched by a spy infiltrated in Heaven, who wanted to create an Angel himself to use it as a weapon to destroy Heaven, but because of his malfunctioning Angel powers every attempt he made of that creature melted and became unstable, which is why Nameless is the way they are. Lucifer despises his creations, to the point of not even giving them a name, but still kept them and gave one of them the job to guard one of the floors of the Hell Tower because he saw that these blobs of clay and wax are hard to defeat and pretty much indestructible.
The failed clone guarding one the floors manages to face Peppino... And developes a fascination for him, mostly because he's interested at the fact he met someone who looks like them... but with a beautiful shiny ring above his head. Unfortunately for the clone, Peppino doesn't really reciprocates the same sentiments, if anything he's horrified at the sight of a creepy and deformed version of himself. Even more so when that... Thing transformed in a gigantic mouth and chased him to try to eat him. Either way, Nameless fails to stop Peppino from getting the key to get to the roof of the tower, watches him defeat their creator and manages to escape along with a bunch of other clones before they could die squashed by the chunks of bricks falling down from the crumbling tower. Now they live near the ruins of the tower, hidden by the eyes of humans, with no other place to stay since they fear they wouldn't be welcome neither in Heaven nor Hell.
Lucifer/Hellface
Lucifer can be described as a man with features of a faun: he has a tall and slim physique with hooves instead of feet, goat ears, long black deer horns peeking out of curly, short, blond hair, a cat-like nose, pointy teeth, black painted nails (although they're not visible here :P) reddened cheeks and a long black tail with a big tuft of blonde fur at the tip of it. He always carries around a silver-like trident with an orange gem on it, wears a short-sleeved white suit with blue four-pointed star designs and has lots of golden accessories, including: two pairs of bracelets for his wrists and anckles, a belt, a choker necklace with an orange gem at the center, double pair of piercings on the helixs of his ears, a pair of four-pointed stars earrings on the lobes, and four rings, three on his fingers and the last one on his right horn.
Occasionally he would also take the form of his alter ego "Hellface", hiding inside a huge black rock with blackened eyes, a mouth with sharp teeth and horns, with lava dripping out of the mouth and cracks. Lucifer uses this disguise especially with the Angels to appear more menacing to them.
According to many voices circulating in Hell, Lucifer used to be one of God's most radiant Angels that was supposed to collaborate with other ones to create and take care of their own planet and humanity. But at a certain point something bad happened and led to a discussion between Luci and (his ex best friend) Michael, splitting in two the group of Angels, creating a big fight that ended with the winner group banning the losers from Heaven and throwing them in the deepest pit of the Earth, now with the job of hosting rotten and evil human souls with them once they terminated their earthly life.
Nowdays Lucifer is one of the rulers of this dark pit, a very well-known being with many titles: the "Rebellious Angel", "Michael's Number One Enemy", "Morning Star", "The Devil Himself", "Fancy Horns", "The Craziest One In The Deadly Sins", but the one is most known for is also the one that describes him better: "The Sin of Pride". Luci is full of himself, selfish and narcissistic even, but also very creative when it comes into creating new weapons, exaggerated with his way of thinking and doing. He strives for chaos and finds order plain and boring. He doesn't really care for humans, if anything, he started to hate them after he became one of Hell's rulers. He hates that he has to witness Michael's project still persisting everyday whenever he looks outside the window of his castle. In fact, scratch that, he hates Michael. And the rest of the Holy Virtues, for that matter. He hates the new job he was given when he got banned from his rightful place. He hates that the Angels views his Pride as destructive and sinful. Lucifer was supposed to be the head of Heaven, not that pretencious and perfectionist scum. He despises everything about Earth and what the Virtues has done to it.
Lucifer have to make Michael and the rest of those idiots pay. He'll destroy Heaven, so that Hell will rise and be in control of Earth. He'll become the ultimate sovrain and will finally do whatever he wants with it and the inhabitants. He wants to start an Apocalypse.
Once per year, ever since he became Hell's ruler, Lucifer would plan new stratagems to destroy Heaven (one of them being the famous Hell Tower), put them into reality... only for then to be stopped by Angels sent by the Virtues when they realized what Lucifer was up to. And one of those many Angels who over the years contributed in stopping the Apocalypse was our beloved Peppino. Lucifer becomes more and more frustrated with each defeat, even with his pyrokinesis, impressive speed and strength, advanced skill at using his trident and ability to create small living creatures, he couldn't defeat those cursed humans with those holy powers. But he doesn't stop. He will take his sweet revenge on Michael. Whatever the cost.
Vittoria Rossi
(CW: mentions of violence and murder)
Vittoria is a 26 y/o girl with a chubby body, long brown messy hair tied in a big bush-like ponytail, a pair of dark red horns that look like those of a bull, a long pointy nose, sharp teeth with a gap in the middle, pointy ears, claw-like hands and toes, a tail with the tip resembling a lighten up fuse and red Imp fur that covers her forearms, legs and pelvis, with her chest clothed with a small gilet made out of animal skin.
Unlike the previous human characters Vit doesn't remember almost anything from before going to Hell, only thing she can recall is that she had an unfair life and that she murdered physically hurt someone before dying. She always wants to be left alone and sometimes she acts very grumpy and pessimistic with others, other times she explodes with rage, even though most of the time she doesn't know why she feels that way. Because of that she often fights other demons in Hell (most of the time against Theo) that always ends up with damage of property for how freakishly strong Wrath Imps are.
Archangel Peppino chooses to help Vittoria with controlling her emotions by essentially becoming her "Jiminy Cricket". Vittoria was initially very hard to cooperate with her rehabilitation, she believes that there's no point in being kind and doing good deeds to others if at the end she gets treated badly in return. The world is such a harsh and hurtful place to live in and she's sick of having to deal with other people's crap.
But despite all of that, Peppino still wanted to help her and Vittoria couldn't really bring herself to push him away. After all, he was the first person she met ever since she entered Hell that treated her with calm and respect. Slowly she becomes a little softer and learns to not only be kinder with others, but also with herself. And as much as Vit initially wants to deny it... She has some romantic feelings for that Archangel.
