INTO THE ARCHIVES: Longacre - 2/22/17

Another peek into my Patreon-exclusive archive. This sketch served as the first draft of the town of Longacre, the setting of the Hell’s Vengeance Adventure Path’s debut adventure, Pathfinder Adventure Path #103: The Hellfire Compact. About half way through writing this adventure I realized that it was a western. I tried to work hints of that into the story and map with the outlying farms, a prominent sheriff’s station, a quaint little church, and a few good squares for hangin! Oh, and there’s a haunted house too, so, maybe not a pure western.

Despite what appears above, I retain my firm stance that no wall should ever entirely circle a town or city (unless it was built yesterday). In Longacre’s case, the “wall” is a fence and there’s plenty of town outside of it. It still slightly rubs me the wrong way—that big loop. But at least that makes something to mull over for next time!
