update about my hellblazer inspired dpxdc fic: am in fact torturing John Constantine again! It's so much fun 😭

so far I have: made him have flashbacks about his abusive father, walk for 36 hours non stop, be a young American midwestern boy (temporarely), think about the live he could have had, talk to abel for five minutes, listen to his old music, visit an ex, go to baltimore, be bullied by a semi-dead teenager, remember he loves his sister

and now: he sent a embarrassing voicemail to the friend he hasn't talked to in months and nearly died in a random bush! yayyy!

Deep intention, sense, and purpose, or courage and vigor, or mind.” “So you’re suggesting that I look for.. an intention?”  “Perhaps.” “And intentions glow?” “Maybe.”  “And it can fly, feed off energy, open portals, animate objects and possess the impossessable?” “Who’s to say?” Zatanna felt a nervous tic starting in her eye and rubbed her face aggressively. “Stranger… You! You should say! I’m asking you!” “Sometimes asking the right question is more important than any answer, Zatanna.” “You’ve been hanging out with the Question too much, the Stranger.” “Who?” “Ugh, forget it. I just finished writing the most inspired thing I have ever written in my entire life and it's for a danny phantom × dc crossover fic based on the vibes from hellblazer (the pacing, the absurd bullshit etc) with a dad!john constantine-centric plot... I don't know how to process this...

random paragraphs from this absolutely insane fic:

It starts on the tip of your toes and it works its way towards your solar plexus. This feeling. You’re standing at the edge of the cliff, you realize. The wind is howling and wiping around your body, the waves crash against it with needless violence, hand-like water reaches towards you as you inch closer towards it. You look towards the dark water, where rock and nothing melt into each other and you can feel that fear burning in your lungs as the Atlantic tries to eat you whole. You remember sitting by the telly at night when you were young. Your father laid passed out on the couch and Vertigo by Alfred Hitchcok playing. The movie had come out not long after they had learned how to broadcast colour and, while you had had colour TV for a while, Judy’s terribly green dress had made an impression on you. There was something about Kim Novak in that scene… Standing in the lab you feel the urge to scream. Your hands shake and your eyes start to water and you’ve never felt so much anger, so much… Your chin trembles and you bite your lip, you dig your nails into your arms and you blink to scare away the tears. Your entire body is on fire. You are so angry, so frustrated, so tired. So much so that there is no space for it in your chest, no space for it in this room, no space for it in this house. Your knees start to go weak and you bend over, curling into yourself.

guys I think I was possessed while writing this dp × dc fanfic...

Ever since mankind was born, we have conquered, reader. It is our favorite pastime, our prophesied destiny and, most certainly, our downfall. We conquered the animal kingdom and mother nature, we conquered the sea and then space, we conquered life and health, we conquered the superhuman and the inhuman, we conquered magic and the supernatural, we conquered technology and electricity. The only realm that we have yet to conquer is that that we wish the most to control: Death. The problem with conquering Death is not the unnaturalness of it. Many things we humans do are unnatural. The problem is the same as any other conquering: Death does not wish to be conquered and would be better left alone. The teenage boy learned that lesson immediately and the adult man —sitting so close to you that you could probably grab his hand had either of you been awake and in the real world— has been learning for a very long time. And them? They are colonisers, of course. And even worse, they are the government of the United States of America. They are imperialists and they are knocking on your door holding in their arms the weapons with which they will enslave you, if they do not throw you in concentration camps first. That is not an analogy and I am not kidding.
