I saw a post about someone saying that the Hellboy franchise shouldn’t be movies but instead a tv show. I’ve also seen how many fans want Ron Perlman, Selma Blair, Doug Jones, etc back, but they’re either too old to do it or don’t want to make a third movie.

Well, I want to take a step further and say if the og movies were to continue it should be an animated tv show. Specifically in a How I Met Your Mother kind of way or even similar to how Flynn started the narration in Tangled. That way Ron Perlman, Selma Blair, Doug Jones, etc can come back and voice them all.

Then the show will consist of stories of past adventures/missions that lead up to a few years after The Golden Army told in a “bedtime story format (and I put quotations around bedtime story bc come on, let be real, Hellboy is still gonna curse and shit).

While I know the comics and the movies (especially the og movies) are completely different especially with Liz and Hellboy’s relationship, the show can consist of adventures/missions from the comics, other movies (both live action and animated), or even original ideas/scenarios for the show itself.

Then there can be a bunch of 4th wall breaks such as the kids interrupting (think of like the kid and the grandpa from The Princess Bride) or even Liz or Abe interrupting to correct Hellboy. Or maybe Liz or Abe is telling a story this time so they’re narrating instead. And we can have scenes (or wait until like the finale or whatever) where it’s Ron Perlman in the Hellboy getup sitting in his kids rooms telling them a bedtime story, or they’re telling stories at the kitchen table. We can even do like themed places such as sitting around a campfire for Halloween or in the living room for Christmas, etc etc. The point is, the show can jump between animation (for past adventures/mission voiced by og cast) and live action (4th wall breaks where the og casts are doing domestic things wearing the costumes).

We can have filler episodes about specific characters bc the kids wanted to know/hear more about Professor Broom, or Abe (some episodes based off of Abe’s solo comics??), or John Myers, or Clay , etc. I think this would be a great way to introduce a lot of characters, specifically ones from the comics, or check in on them/get to know them in general.

And idk where I’m going with this anymore but like yeah, that’s my idea.
