@bprd1952
Everyone share bprd oc lore NOW!!!!
I don’t have any bprd ocs atm but i did have a scrapped character who was a dolphin trainer in the us navy (which does exist and is crazy) who was transferred over to the bureau to work with their captive creatures (like the monsters n stuff they capture) and she would like study their behavior n stuff. She was in charge of feeding and researching daryl at the connecticut headquarters before the move and i did make her for a selfship with ben LOL but im not good at keeping my own characters so i sort of forgot about her
This is so random but I love when you (re)post stuff related to cetaceans! I know next to nothing about them but I really like learning new things :) that’s all
YAY!!!!!!!!! This makes me so happy!!!
Joint statements from SeaWorld, Georgia Aquarium, Shedd Aquarium, and Mystic Aquarium released today (8 July 2026) confirm that the 30 belugas stranded at the shuttered Marineland Canada theme park in Niagara Falls, Ontario will find new homes at 5 different AZA-accredited institutions.
28 of the whales will be divided amongst SeaWorld San Diego, SeaWorld San Antonio, Shedd Aquarium, and Georgia Aquarium. The remaining two will journey to L’Oceanogràfic in València, Spain, which famously rescued two belugas from an imperiled aquarium in Ukraine last year. Mystic Aquarium will aid in the transport but will not receive any belugas themselves. SeaWorld Orlando will also not be receiving whales at this time.
CITES permits have been issued for the American transfers, and NOAA has issued authorization for the US-based facilities to receive the whales. Final health clearances must be approved by Canadian veterinarians before transports can commence. Upon the departure of these whales, as well as four Black Sea dolphins also on site, no cetaceans will remain in human care in Canada.
Below is the official statement from the Honorable Joanne Thompson, the Canadian Minister of Fisheries.
This is amazing news. These animals, previously facing euthanasia, will find new homes at highly regulated facilities with the experience and resources to provide for them.
Godspeed, water marshmallows!

people love supporting AZA accredited zoos until it comes to seaworld
it’s so frustrating!!! yeah the corporate sucks, and they use ai and spend more money on rides than their animals, but they’re still the only ethical place to see captive killer whales in the world. they are AZA accredited for a reason!!
AZA is the gold standard. it’s a huge accomplishment for zoos and aquariums!! it is not easy to become accredited!!
even if you don’t support housing cetaceans in zoological settings, you don’t have to go around yelling about seaworld abusing their animals. because they’re not! they wouldn’t be AZA accredited if they abused their animals. simple as that.
could they improve? absolutely. exhibits could be expanded, more public research and awareness could be done. they could be more transparent and speak out against the backlash. they could stop listening to activists and actually do what is best for the animals in their care.
their rescue program is one of the best in the world. even if you didn’t want to visit the parks for personal reasons, you shouldn’t villainize the caretakers and veterinarians. it’s not their fault the animals are in captivity, and those are the people who are making seaworld a sanctuary and a safe home for their non-releasable animals!!
I’ve heard that “after less than two weeks, all 3 SeaWorld parks have been told by corporate to stop cooperative waterwork with dolphins and belugas during shows, including behaviors like the hug pictured, double dorsal glides, and double footpushes.”
I’m just sitting here like, bruh :/
Corporate SeaWorld just. Sucks. Seriously SeaWorld would be so much better off without being a publicly traded company. Because guess who owns stock in SeaWorld?
PETA said that it hopes SeaWorld will continue to act further by completely phasing out the use of live animals in their shows.
While this was in 2020, it's unlikely PETA has sold their SeaWorld stock, especially considering how much power they now have over the company and the bragging rights it gives them.
This isn't about animal welfare, it's not about what the animals want. It's about what makes the likes of PETA and their donors happy - people who will never go to the parks, have never worked with these animals, yet somehow have power over how the animals are managed.
While there's no scientific data on it, I can say anecdotally that waterwork is not harmful or detrimental to the dolphins and belugas in any way. In fact, they often find these high energy behaviour very reinforcing and it provides variability and relationship building with their trainers.
I don't know how often I need to stress this but they would not be engaging in these behaviours if they didn't want to. They are extremely strong animals and foot pushes and dorsal tows are not difficult for them.
If they found it difficult or uncomfortable, no amount of fish is going to convince them to do it. It's just really sad to see something that brings everyone, including the animals, so much joy and excitement, being so callously taken away.
I'm just... so tired of it. Honeslty, waterwork with cetaceans in general is such a manufactured outrage rather than a genuine concern to welfare.
Trainers know the risks but they are human beings who are more than capable of assessing the risks and choosing whether to jump in the pool or not.
The only issue that came up with waterwork for me was the corporate and management interference and pressure for the trainers to perform. And the past issues with reporting aggression/aggression precursors in shows and cancelling shows or not doing a waterwork sequence because of it. This was detailed in the OSHA v. SeaWorld documentation.
But waterwork in general is reinforcing for the animals and the trainers and provides enrichment for everyone involved.
What do you think is the best Hellboy love song? Like "Can't Smile Without You" for example, personally I think the song "I Don't Want To Set The World On Fire" by The Ink Spots, fits Hellboy pretty well.
silver springs by fleetwood mac always makes me think of kate n hellboy <3 not really a love song though it’s very bittersweet and tugs at the heartstrings, but i adore it
