I'm so tired of people saying Hades should have been the heir because he was the "first born" nah fuck y'all on that logic. If you wanna use the birth placement of Rhea's children then Hades still wouldn't be the heir, depending on myth he was the second or fourth born.

No offense to Hades but he was not the first born child, he was the first born son.

If you wanna use birth order then y'all better get it right and say Hestia should have been the heir. The only reason y'all skip over her was because of the "higher value" the sons had when in reality Hestia was arguably much more respected than any of her siblings.

Hestia was the goddess of the hearth, home, and ritual sacrifices. She was said to teach mortals how to build homes and her kindess even extended to the gods when she gave up her seat to Dionysus. Any sacrifice that was made to the gods, Hestia's name was invoked first.

Hestia is also arguably the most beloved of the gods as demonstrated during an attempted rape of Hestia and all the gods came charging to her rescue. Even Poseidon and Apollo who still respected her when she rejected their marriage proposals for maiden hood.

In more modern interpretations there is arguments whether or not Prometheus really stole fire from Hestia's hearth to give to mortals or if she let him take it. There is also arguments on how far Hestia's power stretches over Olympus, the home of the gods.

Like I said no offense to Hades but you can't say he should have been heir on birth order and completely skip over the true eldest of Rhea's children. Hestia deserves better from some of y'all.

Ideal Zeus: Looks like a kind and wise leader, but is actually a big frat boy who has banged TOO many women.

Zeus: MY only problem here is that Zeus DOES have undercurrents of nobility to him. He has moments of wisdom and even virtue, it's just overshadowed by his abuse of power and excesses with women.

Posiedon: That tracks a lot of the way. Posiedon was the God of the Sea, a violent and changeable thing that could destroy you at a moment's notice.

Hades: More of a bookish and nerdy type. I wouldn't say nice, more reasonable than anything else. Remember, Hades is still a King. In fact, it matters that Hades is king of the Underworld. Hades is the eldest of the three brothers, and as such, their father's kingdom should be his. And it will be in time, for all things die. And, as such, all things will one day be his. The Rich One indeed.

Hera: Honestly, Hera's personality is hard to pin down because she's primarily defined by her relationships to the men in her life. Her anger towards Zeus, her love for her son Ares, her disdain for Hephaestus. There's actually a myth where Hera tries to overthrow Zeus, but is foiled by the Hundred-Handed Ones. I always saw her as a combination of Cersei Lannister and Duchess Satine Kryze.
