Welcome from Scarlett, your Welfare Officer
“Hello :) I’m Scarlett, your Welfare Officer at the Students’ Union. As a student I studied Fashion Photography at LCF where I was elected by the student body to represent you on anything welfare related.
Four years ago (!) I was in your position, excited but mostly very nervous about starting university for the first time. I couldn’t afford to live in halls and I missed my freshers’ week because I didn’t have anywhere to live in London. But despite the rocky start I made my first group of friends by joining a sports team (yay for cheerleading) and braved going out to their social on my own. I felt extremely awkward and wanted to go home for like the first 15 minutes but then I got chatting to someone and I ended up actually having a good time. Joining sports and societies literally made my time at UAL. If it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t have made the majority of my friends, gained all the experience I have and probably wouldn’t be in this job today.
If there’s one tip I can give to you it’s try to enjoy university. Your first two years don’t count towards your grade- have fun, try new experiences and remember that work isn’t everything <3
Take Care, Scarlett”
