With extensive graphical help from Fran and Batandy, I managed to create a golf map that I don’t entirely hate. In fact, I dare say that I actually rather like it.
16 more maps to go. Let’s hope this doesn’t take another half a year.

I just found out that my 2015 track Spooks N’ Spectres has been used as background music in a recent Doom golf mod called Hellshots Golf by TerminusEst13 and Vinny fucking Vinesauce himself streamed it last Sunday
I’ve been hanging out a lot on the Megaman 8-Bit Deathmatch side of Doom as of late. I’ve been acquainted for a good chunk of years, but the devs are a really chill and fun batch of folks and I’ve been enjoying doing stuff with them.
With seeing Maestro being a thing in Hellshots Golf, one of the devs (Russel/Lego) took a shot at an 8-Bit Deathmatch style map for Golf. It looks really, really cool, and there’s a lot of nice paths to go through--it’s probably one of the most impressive maps yet, I think! I can’t thank him enough for his work.
Hellshots now sits at 30 maps--we have only six more to go until we get another full set of courses! It’s certainly been a surprisingly long trek, but I’m excited to put this out and see how people take it.
Another map for Hellshots Golf, this time making extensive use of Heretic textures. I’ve always been quite interested how water changes the trajectory of the ball, so there’s a Storm Temple with lots of water everywhere.
Boy, that sure is a lot of empty space. But it was fun to do something different for once, and I like to imagine the map is pretty fun to go through as well.
At this rate of “one map a month”, it’s quite likely the update will take another half-year to get out, but I’m inching closer and closer to another release. As always, thank you for your patience.
It's been a while since I did stuff. I should probably do more stuff.
I went like four different damn iterations of how the Hellshots system should be handled. At first I was extremely worried that people would be upset if the characters were basically just skins and didn't have any different abilities, but it turns out most people don't actually care. Which is good, because coming up with different abilities for everyone was a surprising pain in the ass.
So instead the Hellshot is a difficult-to-get item that increases your shot distance. So far it's only on one map, but I'd like to include more maps where you can do fancy trickshots to get it.
gaydad420 submitted some code that completely rehauls how the aiming system was handled in golf, making it significantly more responsive to aim with and less like laggy piss dribble. This makes aiming a lot faster and a lot more convenient, allowing players to golf better. Thanks, mate!
Boy, I sure hope this works online without exploding.
Golf mod for Doom.
