@hellsmusing asked: “What do you want from me?” from Ada to Leon
"How about a hello, how are you? Glad to see you're not dead." His fingerless glove grip caught on her arm, holding her in place. After all these years one would think they'd find a way to greet each other huh? He supposed old habits died hard. Ada Wong was a complicated woman and her alliances were even more so. He understood that much even from their first meeting. Still perhaps that young recruit she met all those years ago lingered in that gaze of his. He let go of her arm all the same. "It's good to see you too, Ada."
❝ If you expect me to beg for my life, you'll be sorely disappointed. If anything, I'm only here to kill time. So, how about you tell me what exactly this is all about? ❞
Sylus, of all people, being bound to a chair in an unknown location was something that most people who knew him would have considered to be impossible. Even confronting the man was considered to be a tall order for most, let alone actually managing to kidnap him. So how else other than allowing himself to be caught would one of the most notorious underworld crime bosses ever end up being captured alive so easily?
The ambush itself was elegant and efficient enough that this couldn't have been done by some small time thugs. A competitor, perhaps? Or something else? That curiosity alone kept him from striking when they bound, blindfolded and stuffed him into an unmarked vehicle. He had been hoping to get some answers out of whoever would inevitably come and interrogate him once they brought him to a dimly lit room, but it'd been hours since he last heard anyone's voice. Like everyone suddenly bailed out to go handle some other pressing matter instead. Maybe trouble had landed on their doorstep.
"I know it's kind of last minute, but are you available for lunch?" Charlie asked, standing at the door to Lilith's office in the palace as she looked to her mother.
Charlie was wearing one of her typical more casual dresses, though today she seemed a bit more anxious than usual. She clearly had something on her mind she wanted to talk about.
A shimmering Pictos stain hums softly in the grass. A woman kneels beside it, sketching its shape into her charter. A breeze shifts, not natural, but deliberate and a tall figure steps out from the distortion as if it were a curtain.
It was here, within the meadows, The Spring Meadows of the Verdant Expanse, where Lune had ventured alone, charting terrain and studying Pictos. It was the very same location the wizard had been magnetically drawn to by various unusual magic, it was haunting and overflowing with unstable energies, calling to him, no doubt he was altogether curious and set on investigating the very same phenomenon.
"Well now... that’s not the sort of magic one usually finds lying around in a meadow..." he spoke aloud though it wasn't made clear if it was meant towards her, simply rhetorical, or aimed directly at the arcane essences themselves, "Pardon me and my incidental intrusion, I hadn't expected to run into anyone else out here... but I see you must also be investigating the unusual activity." he added, having gotten closer to the glow and to the other purveyor, a smile audible in his manner of speaking, "it's obvious that you're quite versed in the mystical anomalies occurring in these parts by how accurate your notations and diagrams are, so in-depth and thorough." voice calm, soothing even, despite the unfamiliarity between the two, he's steady and unnervingly confident within her personal space, having been peering over her shoulder at the pages of her personal notebook which she had been quickly scrawling in.

My Life As A Teenage Robot.
Allow me to strong-arm you down memory lane with me. Beware cringey child behavior.
This was entirely new to me. Roleplay. I found a ProBoards for the show and I joined it.
I was a baby (10-11). I barely had a concept of what roleplay was, but it looked like a lot of fun and I wanted to be part of it! Went about as damn messy as you can imagine for a kid who had no idea what she was doing, had no idea what "roleplay etiquette" was, didn't understand the rules (through no fault of the admins, I was literally just going "fuck it we ball" and plunging in without regard for anything just seeking thrill and fun). I made my first character and I was so active in every thread I could reply to (not always with the best responses), I earned the name "Spam Queen". I thought it was cool and owned it like it was a badge of honor. One of the resident artists I was friendly with even drew me art of my OC sitting on top of a can of spam and it's actually so sweet and I wish I still had it lmao. He liked how I took it in stride, I think.
Badda bing badda boom, I got put in temporary ban for a while and it was hilarious because I didn't understand what the hell happened and I told my mom about it who took over my account and informed the admin I was very distressed about it, which led to me being unbanned shortly after. This ban was so warranted, mind you, I was out of control and needed to be stopped. The admin was so understanding and I feel so bad about it now. Imagine one of your baby users getting so upset she tattles to her mom on you. Holy shit.
But, I was loud. I mean, I was LOUD in my presence. Lonely little kid with no social graces gets fixated online and finds her obsession she latches onto. It was so messy.
One of the people I wrote with actually went on DeviantArt to talk behind my back about me and I found them by accident while looking at fanart from the show (back then DA was much smaller and I obsessively kept up with the newest posts). I found a pocket of people from the same forum gossiping about how annoying I was and oh yeah, that was a Canon Event. That sure shaped my mind and definitely left an impact on me. Broke my little heart and everything. That was not cool, and they did know how young I was while they were older.
Me, not having any social grace (honestly iconic moment from me tho), dropped into the thread and asked if they really thought I was annoying and the entire journal activity went quiet except for the one who was writing with me, who backtracked and blew up my AIM with apologies. I pretty much went cold turkey on them from that moment forwards.
Thing is, I wasn't the only person on this forum who could cause a scene - there were other people striking up drama all the time. That shit was juicy, and said shit was:
An engagement was broken up and the discussions between the couple was public for everyone to see because they both attended the forum and one party thought it best to air the dirty laundry in public. It went ON.
There was active trolling from one guy who had to be banned over and over again because he kept making a new account.
There were unmentionable events going on.
There was abhorrent behavior, people started getting hostile towards each other.. It went really downhill near the end. The admin just straight up closed the ProBoard down if I remember correctly.
Messy, messy, messy RPC. I'm sure other places were great, but this board I was part of was NUTS. I think this is where that "you wouldn't last an hour in the asylum where they raised me" meme would fit best.
I do recall love for the character Sheldon was very prominent and it was ill-advised to talk badly about him, bc woof. Consequences when he was the favorite of the people in power.
"Whatever you're looking for, there's nothing to find." from @hellsmusing's Ada to Ghost
He didn't want to believe his lead had turned out to be a dead end, but the lady was right. There was nothing here, it was back to square one. Yet, something was not making sense...
"What'd you find here, then?" Something was bound to be around, if she was still there. Maybe, something he had overlooked, a possible clue. She didn't look like the type to hunt for dead ends.
...Unless she had been tricked as well.
"You alone?" Ghost asks, gauging the situation at hand. Standing in front of him could be a potential ally of circumstance... or a complete foe.
@hellsmusing sent: ❝ i hope i didn’t keep you waiting very long, did i? ❞ — From Ada for Leon!
How long had he been waiting in this sleazy bar for, nursing the same glass of whiskey and listening to the same shitty song on repeat? It could’ve been an hour. Or maybe even two. Time sure flew when you were having fun, didn’t it? A thought that had Leon’s lips thinning into a straight line.
Was she seriously going to stand him up? Surely after being the one to text first out of the blue — Leon still hadn’t the faintest idea how she’d found his number, not that he was complaining — she at least owed him the courtesy of showing her face. But this was Ada Wong he was talking about. The clearest epitome of unpredictability in the form of a woman. For all Leon knew? She could’ve been messing with him. What was new there?
Gaze fixated on his drink as he swirled the golden liquid around, ice cubes clinking gently against the glass, he almost missed the sound of heels tapping until the sound of Ada’s sultry tone accompanied them, causing Leon’s head to turn, piercing blues finding Miss Wong herself.
“Not too long, no.” His tone was coated with sarcasm, though any irritation he may have felt melted away— lips now twitching with the tiniest hint of a smirk. If there was one thing Ada was good at other than deceiving, it was buttering him up without even having to try. “Being on time isn’t really your style, is it? Or maybe you just wanted to keep me on my toes.” He was lucky she was even there at all, he knew.
Always one to make a grand entrance. “Better late than never though, I guess.” He gestured to the stool beside him, scooting over just slightly. “To what do I owe the pleasure, Ada?”
❛ did you always get what you wanted when you waited? ❜ from lune
@hellsmusing / love and deepspace
" I was never good at waiting, " the big man muses, a hint of reflection in it all. " But I don't think I would have ended up anywhere at all if I had just waited. " He sighs, though, letting his gaze trail. " I was born to a fisherman, you know. That's what my father was, and my father's father, and they had never wanted to be anything else. But I did, and so did everything I could to make people see me. "
A small tiny smile follows, a shift a glance sidelong. " I was always proud of it. But perhaps things would have been different if I had been content being a fisherman's son, non? "
