All Roads Lead to Hell: Lore
As Hell evolves alongside human society and it's advances, naturally its way of transportation has changed too. However, the oldest routes of Hell still exist in the form of the Infernal Highway....the longest road that leads from Pride to Sloth.
In Hell's early days of occupation, when demons and their Kings were still adjusting, the Infernal Highway was constructed very simply, as a gravel road carved from the primeval rock, cycling through each Ring. Over time the road became very commonplace to use, though due to the arduous nature of travel, it was mostly taken on horseback in order to get from place to place more easily. When the automotive industry entered Hell, projects were placed to pave it and make it more accessible. However, the Infernal Highway would lose its use upon the invention of the elevator.
With a large amount of funding from all Seven Kings to connect their Rings more efficiently, an enormous elevator shaft was designed and constructed to go straight down, building many elevators capable of transporting cars and passengers to each Ring on a well-kept timetable. Once the Hellevator was constructed, the use for the Infernal Highway became a thing of the past.
These days, the Infernal Highway has fallen into disrepair, some parts of it impossible to traverse by car. However, it still acts as a well-used route by those who still live the old-fashioned way. For example, Striker uses the Infernal Highway to traverse on horseback, and learned the routes by finding old road maps that lay out all the twists and turns it takes. And because of how out-of-date it is, the Infernal Highway is never occupied by security or police forces due to it being more or less impossible to drive on.
Rumors swirl the Infernal Highway can go even deeper, with roads leading off it to places beyond a demon's wildest dreams. However these are believed to be more or less folk legends, and are often dismissed.
