New theory! Kinger cannot physically abstract. In the show we have seen 3 (if we count Pomni’s beginners jitters) attempts at abstraction. In their POVS there is distortion of reality. Pomni is rocking back and forth in her confusion, Gangle’s point of view shifts as she stumbles everywhere and Jax is fully seeing things that just aren’t there.
And after Kinger loses his coworkers/friends, his wife, and the community the circus relies on to keep things sane, there is nothing. He is in his darkest moments but there is NOTHING. Everything is so clear it stings. He seems dazed, but far too sturdy for anyone in his position. There are no weird sounds, no view distortion, no hallucinations, nothing but him. And the more I think about it, I think either his memory loss is physically blocking him from going insane, or Caine has something to do with this. Maybe he was so worried about being all alone again that he spent a bit of in that short span of between Queenie’s abstraction and Ragatha’s appearance to keep him alive incase other people didn’t show up.
My third theory is that the first ever group was purely made up of developers and Kinger just happened to be one of them, which would rule out him simply being spared because he’s a developer.
Even if that theory isn’t true, the fact that one developer abstracted already rules out the question of it being that he’s a developer. Maybe he worked on such an important piece of Caine’s mindscape that (not unlike the coconut in the TF2 game files) that he physically cannot be removed without harming Caine.
