These very fun specimens are a Pseudomorph of Hematite after Marcasite from Egypt! A Pseudomorph is when one stone takes over the crystallinity of the first stone. Hematite does not form like this but Marcasite does. So when the Hematite takes over, it holds Marcasite structure. I think they look like little Sputnik’s. They are relatively dense. It’s finally here!! The first of a new find of Elestial Amethyst and Smoky Quartz with Hematite inclusions from Zambia. They are mined by an organization that is owned by women which relatively rare for this line of work. I must tell you, that when I unwrapped these, I was literally kissing them and jumping up and down. They look similar to Brandberg Quartz actually and will have many of the same properties due to the Smoky Quartz, Amethyst and Hematite present in the specimens. This is the best Elestial specimen of the lot. It is lovely luster. We hope you enjoy as much as we do! Stay tuned as we will be showing more this week. Sneak Peek! An entire other world exists under a Microscope. This photo was taken with a macro lens to show the Epidote crystals growing in the Amethyst which is included with Hematite phantoms. The green Epidote crystals look like snowflakes that have landed on ice. These highly lustrous clusters all have record keepers on them as well! You can actually see one that I captured in this photo towards the top left. What is even more wonderful, is that these specimens come from Tibet, and were mined in 2002!!!
