The patent for what would become the typewriter was issued on this day in 1714 (!) to an English inventor named Henry Mill. We found this early 20th century typewriting manual in the collection and particularly enjoyed this drawing. There’s a lot going on on that right pinkie finger.

Primul dispozitiv de scris asemănător tiparului
Primul dispozitiv de scris asemănător tiparului
Cu 306 ani în urmă, în 6 ianuarie 1714, englezul Henry Mill (1683 – 1771) patenta un dispozitiv de scris asemănător tiparului (maşina de scris din zilele noastre).
Prima maşină de scris comercială a fost patentată în anul 1868, inventatorul ei fiind inginerul mecanic american Christopher Sholes (1819 – 1890).
